[PADA: Nanda Kumar says in this video that he knew at least one of the ISKCON disciples was plotting to take over Srila Prabhupada's position, and that Srila Prabhupada said this person was "praying for me to depart" so they could take over his movement. He says he had been told by Srila Prabhupada -- this person is "not a devotee, while he dressed as a devotee."
This "someone" was laughing in the room when Srila Prabhupada was departing, which alarmed Nanda Kumar, and so he knew this person was a threat to Srila Prabhupada. So he figured that he could either kill that person, kill himself, or leave the movement. He decided to leave. That's what he says right here on the video.
Prithu Putra svami pretty much said the same thing, he knew there was a plot against Srila Prabhupada, in fact, he said that he knew Srila Prabhupada had been poisoned. So he also left. This is pretty much what at least some of the people present at the departure of Srila Prabhupada felt, that there was a "bad element" surrounding Srila Prabhupada, they wanted to "take over" and sit in his seat.
The main problem with this story is, if one really knows the guru is in danger of being physically harmed, then one's duty is to defend him no matter what. Anyway, its very interesting that some people knew even before Srila Prabhupada departed, there was a plot against him to "take over." This is pretty courageous of Nanda Kumar to bring this story out at this time, that basically some sort of demoniac program was interested in hi-jacking the movement.
And thus -- at least some -- members of that clique were "praying for Prabhupada to depart" for that to happen. Its a little late for this story to help a lot of people who were victimized by the hijackers, but its better late than never, it might help some folks to know this now. It seems more and more evidence keeps coming out -- pointing to a criminal conspiracy to hi-jack ISKCON. Anyone who is sincerely studying the poison issue should listen to this tape repeatedly, its very condemning of the hi-jackers. ys pd]

i dont think he is referring to tamal. in a prabhupada rememberance class he gave in 2011, he mentioned this same story, however ...early in the same class he was speaking very highly of "srila" tamal krishna maharaja. i dont think he would spend the beginning of a class glorifying tamal if tamal is the person he is referring to that was laughing and couldnt wait to take over the movement. it just doesnt add up or sound logical. ge must be referring to someone other than tamal. has anyone seen video footage with the person laughing? im very curious who as to who it could be. jayatirta?
