Balaram das: On the Hansadutta episode

[PADA: Srila Prabhupada knew that he was being betrayed at the time in 1977, since he was saying things like, please do not torture me and put me to death. Some are now arguing that he could have -- or would have -- handled it differently. And by that same argument, then Jesus could have left town, etc. but that's not really our call, what these saints do is up to them. 

We are not saying that Srila Prabhupada knew for sure that us PADA folks would be the persons to get these tapes later on (and we'd expose the issue) or not, but he did know the tapes were being made -- and thus it was at least possible that someone (ok like us) would get the tapes and expose the story later on, as happened. 

As for the person who wrote to tell us, if the GBC knew PADA editor would get the tapes, they would have killed us a long time ago, well ok maybe, but if they knew these tapes were going to cause all this trouble for them, then they would have destroyed the tapes a long time ago, and then we never would have got them. In any case, the tapes are now out and most of our Prabhupadanuga people, as well as many Gaudiya Matha people etc. accept the tapes. Here is a nice comment from Balaram das:]

Ultimately Krsna is ‘trikalagna’….Bhagavad-gita 4:5 > “The Blessed Lord said: Many, many births both you and I have passed. I can remember all of them, but you cannot, O subduer of the enemy!

Again in Bhagavad-gita 15:15 > “I am seated in everyone’s heart, and from Me come remembrance, knowledge and forgetfulness…..”

Even though being a fully surrendered maha-Bhagavat soul, Srila Prabhupada during his manifest lila was not some kind of mystic for-teller of all things past, present and future. Whatever knowledge, remembrance or forgetfulness required for his preaching mission was supplied directly by Krsna to his unalloyed, pure devotee.

Although Srila Prabhupada’s knowledge of the workings of the material energy were vast, there were still many times when he inquired about seemingly mundane things from his disciples. Small example when in 1974 we were following Srila Prabhupada on the morning walks on Juhu Beach. A very loud plane had just taken off from Santa Cruz Airport and was overhead…Srila Prabhupada stopped abruptly, (as usual) and turned towards me and stated with a quizzical tone “747″?

As I knew the plane was a “707″ I hesitated, but then thought Srila Prabhupada is asking for confirmation, so why not show my totally insignificant material knowledge. I blurted out “Srila Prabhupada, that’s actually a 707″, then suddenly realizing I might have to go and disappear into the ocean for being so impudent. Srila Prabhupada then looked back at me nodded and simply said…”ahh, 707″, smiled and resumed his walk.

Just as the rain falls indiscriminately, Srila Prabhupada delivers his mercy for all souls, although he knew many would betray him, steal from him and attempt to usurp his divine position. That’s the misused, minute independence of the conditioned souls and he didn’t interfere with that, but just kept showering his mercy regardless, personally during his manifest lila and now personally through his original books, lectures, conversations and the like.
