Starting in New York these were mainly devotees with Polish and Russian migration background but adopted American names like Bruce, Keith, Ryan, Justin. Naturally these devotees would create networks and discriminate those who didn't belong to this particular group. As we see above many devotees, even gurus, didn't abandon these designations of origin and maintain it for their whole life. As soon someone visits this temple and says, hey, I'm from Armenia then he is accepted. Understandable, human, but not exactly the teaching of Vedas.
