Dead rivers, flaming lakes: India's sewage failure (yahoo.com)
PADA: Yep, India just does not invest in keeping the environment clean and safe. It seems to me that cleaning up the environment would be a bigger priority than making everyone do their banking on their cell phones, and investing in other high tech developments. You'd need to begin at the lowest levels before making big programs for the higher tech levels.
Once these toxic materials settle into the ground water and surrounding earth for a long time, it seeps deep into the soil and makes clean up all the more difficult. We had a similar problem in my home city back East. They kept burying toxic materials, and then it was seeping into people's houses, the water supplies, etc.
When they finally came to dig it out, it was an enormous mess. Of course India probably has no plans for digging it all up, so it will persist in the environment and spread exponentially. This is another sign that India is being punished for not following Krishna. I also believe that ISKCON's making a commercial enterprise, if not a haven for perverts -- out of Krishna's worship -- is helping make the karma of India -- worse. Krishna cannot be pleased with any of this.
