Basu Ghosh (Bryan Davies) Writes About Female Diksha Gurus (Update)

Basu Ghosh Das was born as Bryan Davies in Chicago, America. He was initiated by Srila Prabhupada. He has spent 38 of his 54 years of life in Gujarat. Basu Ghosh Das, president of the ISKCON temple in Vadodara, is currently in Ahmedabad to participate in the All India Sanskrit Elocution Competition. Dressed in a white dhoti and upavastra, he speaks chaste Sanskrit as he walks on the SGVP International School campus, taking a break to communicate in Hindi and Gujarati with those who perhaps don’t follow Sanskrit entirely. 

It was Indian culture and language that drew him to India when he was 16. Sri Sri Radha Shyamsundar Gaudham (Hindi: श्री श्री राधा श्यामसुंदर गौधाम), is a well known Vaishnav temple of Lord Krishna and Radharani in the form of Radha Shyamsundar, and a spiritual-cultural campus in Ahmedabad, India.


[PADA: So that means Basu Ghosh has been at the scene of the crimes going on in India, such as mass child molesting after their installing Bhavananda and Kirtanananda as the heads of the child education program there. All sorts of child abuse -- such as starving, beating with bamboo sticks, sexual abuse, knocking out teeth and breaking bones, depriving children of basic needs like soap and blankets was going on there, and Basu Ghosh was one of the big leaders there while all this was going on left, right and center.

Basu Ghosh also says that Srila Prabhupada did not appoint any acharyas. So that means Basu Ghosh's party appointed them. How did they become acharyas if they were not appointed by Srila Prabhupada, then who did appoint them? 

Also! Not sure how Basu Ghosh, Bhakti Vikas swami et al. can say they had "no idea" all this banning, beating, molesting, lawsuits and murders were going on left, right and center, since they have been central India's leaders and big defenders of the GBC's guru process in ISKCON for decades, while much of this criminal activity was going on at their doorstep.

And Basu Ghosh still bans and blocks those of us protesting these types of crimes. Lets not forget all the banning, beating, molesting, lawsuits, and murders that have been going on in the regime Basu Ghosh has been supporting as "bona fide gurus." As a big hand maiden of this process, he is still acting as the biggest defender of the idea that conditioned souls are God's guru successors, the program that has devastated ISKCON and the lives of perhaps tens of thousands of Krishna's devotees and officially BANKRUPTED ISKCON. 

Basu Ghosh for example says that Bhakti Vikas Swami is "a guru in good standing" -- uhh, because he is "2/3 show of hands voted in as guru" by the SAME people who reinstated oral homosexual acts with taxi drivers in the holy dham as their "Vishnupada acharya"? And Bhavananda was causing havoc in the gurukula program which was severely mistreating children. This is the person we need to reinstate and keep in office, when all this mayhem is going on full tilt, and children are being victimized horrifically?

OK so the Basu Ghosh program likes to blend together their oral sex with taxi drivers deviants -- and the name "Vishnupada" -- and he claims to have the backing of sanskrit scholar experts in India. Yet even any 13 year old child in the USA knows -- we cannot blend "oral sex with taxi drivers in the holy land" -- and the name of God? Even ordinary children make better "scholars" than all this lot put together! So Basu Ghosh is actually insulting sanskrit and its scholars by saying such scholars would endorse his oral sex with taxi drivers guru parampara and its (mis) using of the DIVINE title of "Vishnupada" aka successors to God.

Is this not also why Srila Prabhupada told us to beware of these sanskrit scholars in India? Because they might end up helping Basu Ghosh promote an anal sex, oral sex, homosex, heterosex, pedophile sex, porno sex and maybe sex with donkeys "acharyas, gurus and messiahs from heaven" program? As soon as we find that oral sex with taxi drivers in the holy dham is being equated with "Vishnupada," we have found our sanskrit experts? Ok this is something even any USA child already knows is wrong, we cannot equate debauchees and the name of God. 

Indeed! How can we equate an oral sex with taxi drivers, and indeed an entire "illicit sex with men, women and children" guru parampara, with the same purity aka "shaksat hari tvena" of God Almighty aka Vishnu? And why would people like Basu Ghosh and Bhakti Vikas swami also not know that their Bhavananda's oral sex with taxi driver's program is also starving, beating, molesting and mistreating the ISKCON children, right there under their nose in their domain? Many ex-children report to us that the abuse was so widespread that it would be nearly impossible for any of the leaders there to not know this process was going on.

Of course even after the GBC was sued for $400,000,000 for mass abuse, we were still being told by the Basu Ghosh leaders of this process that they "are in good standing." Well yep, if you are standing good on patala loka.

I am writing to you only with this question, which unfortunately was not addressed in your reply.

What is the problem if ISKCON India does not allow ISKCON devotees in female bodies to initiate in India and ISKCON North America allows some, but not many, to initiate in North America?

First of all, the idea of women initiating is nonsense, not only in my personal view, but in the view of many godbrothers, and devotees in India, and elsewhere. So first, we need to be convinced that we are wrong, and the evidence points the other way. This push for women gurus is born not out of the instructions of vedic shastras and varnashram dharma, but out of the liberal, leftist / Marxist, egalitarian ethos so popular in Europe and the USA. 

In vedic literatures, there is no indication that woman be formal gurus. Informal – hiksha / pathapradarshaka gurus, yes: mother is the first guru! But the formal gurus, the “shrotriyam” gurus, are men – brahmanas who study the vedas in childhood in gurukulas: the home of the guru, as Lord Krishna and Balaram did, and became learned in them. As were read in SB 10.45.33:

tayor dvija-varas tustah suddha-bhavanuvrttibhih
provaca vedan akhilan sangopanisado guruh
tayoh – Their; dvija-varah – the best of brahmanas (Sandipani); tustah – satisfied; suddha – pure; bhava – with love; anuvrttibhih – by the submissive acts; provaca – he spoke; vedan – the Vedas; akhilan – all; sa – together with; anga – the (six) corollary literatures; upanisadah – and the Upanisads; guruh – the spiritual master.

Translation

That best of brahmanas, the spiritual master Sandipani, was satisfied with Their submissive behavior, and thus he taught Them the entire Vedas, together with their six corollaries and the Upanisads.

[PADA: And what happened to many, some say most, of the ISKCON GBC's "gurukula children" in the GBC / Basu Ghosh "gurukula" program? Many of these children went to court in Dallas and reported in sworn testimony to being starved, beaten black and blue, molested, and deprived of basic daily needs like soap and blankets, and so on. A number of them subsequently committed suicide. 

A number of them told us, they did not even get a proper education and they had problems with basic math and spelling even when they were supposed to be "graduated." And this has messed up their entire life since they started out crippled by their bad education. 

Is the Basu Ghosh gurukula program anywhere comparable to Krishna's in the Krishna book? Why does he keep making these comparisons? Its an insult to Krishna and to the apparently thousands of child victims of his process. 

Worse, the GBC / Basu Ghosh program also created an anal sex, oral sex, homosex, heterosex, pedophile sex, porno sex and maybe sex with donkeys "guru chain from heaven" program for the children to worship as their "path to God." Why do children have to worship such a "guru parampara" to attain God? 

Why does Basu Ghosh types alway juxtapose Krishna's going to His gurukula, with their illicit sex with men, women and children gurukula process? And! What happened to many / most of the children in the Basu Ghosh system? They became almost wholesale alienated from ISKCON, and a number of them committed suicide. 

More than a few of them now HATE KRISHNA because of all the abuse they received in the name of Krishna in the Basu Ghosh "gurukula" system. What does any of this have to do with Krishna's gurukula program? Why does he keep juxtaposing these things?]

Do you find any such references to women studying vedas and being gurus – teachers of others, in Vedic literatures?

[PADA: We know hundreds of devotee women who left ISKCON because they do not want to worship Basu Ghosh's illicit sex with men, women and children guru program, nor do they want their children to worship same. That means these women are superior to Basu Ghosh because they know such bogus guru programs have to be avoided and rejected wholesale.]

So in conclusion:

The “problem” is that authorizing formal female diksha gurus in ISKCON will contradict what vedic shastras, varnashram dharma – created by Lord Krishna Himself – and Prabhupada taught.

As the ISKCON India Governing Bureau adopted in it’s resolution on FDGs: 

Whereas, the members of the Bureau feel that the GBC resolution authorizing female diksha gurus even on a regional basis will adversely affect ISKCON India. As devotees around the world treat ISKCON as one united institution and not compartmentally, with each area having it’s own systems of initiation. 

So anyone who is initiated by a female guru outside of India cannot be denied as a bona fide initiated devotee within India. We wish to point out that ISKCON India has the most temples, the largest group of both fully dedicated and congregational devotees, and the most book distribution in the world. Moreover, we wish to point out that the vast majority of ISKCON’s congregation in the USA, Canada, UK, Australia, New Zealand, as well as to some extent in Western Europe, are Indians, and they naturally have a relationship with ISKCON in India.

[PADA: Basu Ghosh is unfortunately right about this point. Most of the members of his anal sex, oral sex, homosex, heterosex, pedophile sex, porno sex and maybe sex with donkeys "messiahs from heaven" program reside in India. Most of the people who think its a good idea to bury pedophiles and porno swamis in samadhis in Vrndavana are -- in India. That is all true. Evidently, most of his India "sanskrit scholars" have no problem with Basu Ghosh program's linking oral sex with taxi drivers and "Vishnupada," self-evidently then, they have no clue who is Vishnu and who are His Vishnupada successors. 

Meanwhile, most of the Western devotees we know of are absolutely mortified, disgusted, fried, toasted, upset, angry, and sometimes feeling physically sick at the idea that we need to worship Basu Ghosh's illicit sex with men, women and children guru parampara, and bury the members of that program in the HOLY DHAM. However, just because a limited number people worship Basu Ghosh's illicit sex with men, women and children guru paramparas in India, does not make it bona fide, because there are so many bogus guru things going on there, no one can count them.

Then again we had a big problem with the Dayalu nitai's HKC Jaipur folks, also in india. They all wanted me to listen to a video they had made of Bhakta das, who says Radhanath is a saint. They also wanted me to join the burying pedophiles in samadhis process? Neine danke! These people do not even know that burying pedophiles in the dham is not "saintly" and we should not promote the cheer leaders of this program? 

Thanks to God we are not influenced by these great "India scholars"? That is why I have to thank God that I was born a mleccha, and at least understood that gurus have to be as good as God, or they are not gurus. And since Srila Prabhupada says the same thing, that is why we accepted his teachings.]  

Maybe you didn’t read this part of our resolution earlier? Because if you did, you might not have written asking this question!

Regarding the purport to CC Madhya 23.105, well, how would it be reconciled with the following statements of Srila Prabhupada about women?

Reporter: Are men superior in your movement, though?

Prabhupada: Hm?

Reporter: Are men regarded as superior to women?

Prabhupada: Yes, naturally. Naturally, woman requires protection by the man.

In the childhood she is protected by the father, and youth time she is

protected by the husband, and old age she is protected by elderly sons. That is natural.

Female Reporter: That goes against the thinking of a lot of people in

America now. Do you know that?

Prabhupada: No… America, maybe, but this is the natural position. Women require protection.

In Vedic society, no girl was allowed to remain independent and unmarried. Independence for women means they become like prostitutes, struggling to capture some man who will take care of her. In this way the so called independent woman has to work very hard to make herself attractive by artificially wearing cosmetics — mini skirts and so many other things. 

Formerly the girl would be married to a suitable boy at a very early age, say six years old. But although a girl was married early she did not stay with her husband immediately but was gradually trained in so many ways how to cook, clean and serve her husband in so many ways — up until the time of her puberty. So all the time there was no anxiety because a girl would know — I have got a husband, and the boy would know I have got this girl as my wife. 

Therefore when the boy and girl would come of age there was no chance of illicit sex-life. And the psychology is the first boy that a girl accepts in marriage, that girl will completely give her heart to, and this attachment on the girls side for her husband becomes more and more strong, thus if a girls gets a good husband — one who has accepted a bona fide spiritual master and is firmly fixed up in his service, automatically the wife of such a good husband inherits all the benefits of his spiritual advancement. So you are fortunate. Go on in this present attitude, serve your husband always and in this way your life will be perfect, and together husband and wife go back home — Back to Godhead.

You see, my friend, that there is “preaching strategy”, and then, our own ideals as taught in vedic literatures, and culture, about the role of women in society. As disciples of Srila Prabhupada, and students of vedic culture, Prabhupada expected us to adopt these principles. The egalitarian view – that the GBC, consisting mostly of Western devotees have adopted – is that “women should have equal opportunity for service”, and that is just not the Vedic view!

So I say again, that this resolution of the GBC is not based on Prabhupada’s teachings or Vedic culture and religion. This resolution contradicts what is taught in Bhagavad-gita 16.23/24

Bg. 16.23

yah sastra-vidhim utsrjya vartate kama-karatah
na sa siddhim avapnoti na sukham na param gatim
yah – anyone who; sastra-vidhim – the regulations of the scriptures; utsrjya – giving up; vartate – remains; kama-karatah – acting whimsically in lust; na – never; sah – he; siddhim – perfection; avapnoti – achieves; na – never; sukham – happiness; na – never; param – the supreme; gatim – perfectional stage.

Translation
He who discards scriptural injunctions and acts according to his own whims attains neither perfection, nor happiness, nor the supreme destination.

Show us the “scriptual injunction(s)” calling for / authorizing female diksha gurus. Women are already shiksha (“non-different from diksha”) and patha pradarshaka gurus. We find no scriptural injunction/evidence that women should be diksha gurus – otherwise, we would not be opposing this at all!

We find that this – the GBC resolution instituting female diksha gurus – is just affirmative action – only. Not that which is taught in Vedic shastras.
