Narayana Maharaja at Mayapura in early days

When we went to Mayapura in 1971 the Gaudiya Matha God brothers were saying Srila Prabhupada was bogus for having women on his party, for initiating westerners and so on, and worse of all, they said he was bogus to use the title of "Prabhupada." Narayana Maharaja was there at the time and he was associated with those God brothers. Srila Prabhupada tried to placate them all by inviting them over for a meeting, and when they came they refused to offer dandavats back to Srila Prabhupada (I was there). And what happened next Madhava maharaja (Sridhara's best friend) stuck his finger in Srila Prabhupada's face and told him he had to quit using the title of Prabhupada. After they left Srila Prabhupada said, post a guard with a gun at my door, some of my brothers might want to harm me or kill me. As for Narayana Maharaja, he tried to get people to boycott Srila Prabhupada's invitation, he refused to come to the meeting. Of course later Narayana Maharaja was the leader of the GBC gopi club and he said we were poison ritviks for not working with the GBC gurus like he was doing. He was going to Dallas and hanging out with Tamal, and when one of my friends tried to tell him the GBC gurus were bogus, NM practially spat in his face, he said that the GBC gurus are his friends and he will not tolerate insults to them. ys pd
