2,000 Devotees Attend Gaura Purnima HKM Jaipur


Jaipur, March 6, 2018: Gaura Purnima festival was celebrated at Krishna Balaram Temple, Akshaya Patra Campus, Jaipur on March 2nd, 2018 to commemorate the divine appearance of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu in West Bengal 532 years ago. 

On this auspicious day, a day-long Harinama sankirtan was performed by devotees highlighting the mission of Lord Chaitanya who spread the chanting of the Lord’s holy names extensively all over India and upheld the principle of pure devotional service to Lord Krishna. A grand procession followed by a special abhishekam with puja to Sri Sri Nitai Gauranga (Lord Nityananda and Lord Chaitanya) were conducted in the evening in the presence of His Grace Ratnangada Govinda Dasa, President, Hare Krishna Movement, Rajasthan. 

Nearly 2,000 devotees participated in these festivities and sought the blessings of Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. Their Lordships were gorgeously decorated and carried on a pallakki in the temple, along with the Deity of Srila Prabhupada in a grand procession to the accompaniment of sankirtan and dance. This was followed by an elaborate abhisheka to Their Lordships with various paraphernalia like milk, curds, honey, ghee, panchamrita, fruit juices, herbal extracts, fragrant flowers, etc. 

Their Lordships received an arati with attractive lamps while devotees sang the melodious Gaura arati song. After this, 51 kalasha snana was performed to the accompaniment of Purusha Sukta prayers recital. Their Lordships were then showered with a variety of colorful and fragrant flowers. Finally there was an audio-visual presentation on Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, which was enlightening and covered a number of aspects of the philosophy of Krishna consciousness. 

It included a short description of Lord Chaitanya’s life, a summary of His teachings, glimpses of the holy places He visited during His pilgrimage in South India and also a brief account of the contribution of Srila Prabhupada, the Founder-Acharya of the worldwide Hare Krishna Movement. After the video presentation, devotees sang a song on the divine qualities and bodily features of Lord Chaitanya, the epitome of love of Godhead, while a special puja was performed. The festival ended with a grand pallakki utsava of Their Lordships and a delicious prasadam feast to all the participants.
