Fighting for the Soul of Seattle (Video)

Damaghosa dasa: The fight for the soul of Seattle video (below) is a documentary done by one of the local TV stations in Seattle. It shows very graphically how much this once pristine and clean city of millions, has now devolved into a hell hole of rampant drugs, no police protection, violent crime everywhere, homeless ness everywhere in the thousands and a city council and police dept. that can and will not do anything. 

And this scenario is being played out all over America-Los Angeles, San Francisco, NY, Atlanta, Detroit, etc. Nobody feels safe anymore and people who would never have a gun are now buying guns just to protect themselves because the police admit they cannot protect citizens anymore. 

What to do? People must turn completely to God-Krsna for protection because now it has become crystal clear that local and Federal governments cannot do the job they were intended for. Srila Prabhupada already predicted this some 40 years ago warning the devotees to take action for this coming disaster. The time is running out prabhus......

[PADA: Even way back in the day, when the politicians started to make "free trade" agreements with China, some people objected "if we send all out jobs to China, we will have a huge unemployment problem in the USA." The people who criticized flooding the USA with cheap imported goods were tossed under the bus, just like those of us who criticized ISKCON problems were / are tossed under the bus. Mass unemployed was also predicted by Srila Prabhupada. 

In sum, bad management produces bad results. And now the ISKCON GBC has also basically tossed Srila Prabhupada's self-sufficient farms idea under the bus, which is perhaps the worst part of all this. We really are without solid practical shelter at present. OK except -- we have to just pray to Krishna at this stage. ys pd]

Journalist: Do you think modern man must mend his ways or he will... he must get better and know God or he will destroy himself?

Prabhupāda: Yes, he is destroying already. The society is not in stable stage. Just like in America, they are also in trouble now. They are asking money from the federal government. They cannot make solution. So as soon as the monetary source will decline, this civilization will be finished.

Journalist: As soon as the money declines.

Prabhupāda: Yes. Because there is no culture. They are not standing on culture. They are standing on money.

Journalist: You think we pay too much importance to money?

Prabhupāda: Yes, everybody, yes. They do not know what is culture of life. They simply ... 

Journalist: Do you think we have too much for our needs?

Prabhupāda: You are creating your needs. You are not too much in need, but you have created so many artificial needs.

People are trying that "We shall be happy by becoming materially advanced." That is called durāśā. That is hope against hope. Na te viduh svārtha- gatim hi vishnum[SB 7.5.31]. They do not know that destination of life is to attain Krsna consciousness. No. They do not know. They think, "By increasing motorcars, we shall be happy." This is called maya That will not help. This motorcar civilization will be finished within another hundred years. It has begun, say, for the last hundred years, and after a hundred years, when... The scientists say the petroleum will be finished within fifty years or like that, so, say hundred years, this motorcar will be finished. So anything we manufacture, the so-called empire, so-called material civilization; it is finished, it will be finished.

Prabhupāda: ...I stressed in other that in India strictly maintain an institution, following Bhagavad-gītā's conclusion. That we are trying to do. It is not a new invention. It is already there. If it is not possible to maintain such an institution, then human civilization will be finished. There is no hope. And it is now being effective worldwide. Why India should not maintain?

31 May, 1975 letter

Please accept my blessings. I am in due receipt of your letter dated May 23, 1975 and have noted the contents. Your report is very nice to hear. If you give the right protection to the cows, then they will give so much milk, that the ground of New Vrndavan will be muddy with milk. European and American civilization will be finished on account of this sinful activity of killing the cows

Prabhupada: So you are being cheated for the last two hundred years, not for thousands of years. So it will be finished. Within another fifty years, everything will be finished.
