First of all, a lot of people have rejected ISKCON because its become a dried out cake, a mundane corporate operation. Cannot argue with that. And people need to find more nectar somewhere, also cannot argue with that. Unfortunately the Gaurahari process has gone a little too far over the edge for me, with the hugging, feet kissing, and so forth.
This is not something Srila Prabhupada would have wanted IMHO. I am more in favor of the process someone like Aindra was doing, getting everyone into kirtan using a more standard sadhana process. Unfortunately, that is also not being done hardly anywhere either. So I sympathize with the people who want to form another program, and I get the need for that totally, but I think we have to be careful about going too far into non-standard process.
And this "emotional" bhakti idea was going on all over Bengal in the time of Srila Bhaktivinode thakura and he lamented that the original standards were being lost. In sum, I am in favor of doing what Srila Prabhupada was himself implementing while he was present, and there is plenty of connection to that with available books, lectures, kirtans and etc. Of course the real test is to have people tasting Krishna, agreed, but in my opinion the people actually tasting Krishna would be very careful about their public displays of behaviors in order to represent Krishna to the devotees and public properly.
There were a lot of "ecstatic" programs in Bengal and Radha kund even when Srila Prabhupada was here, and he told us to avoid them. Anyway, I get it, too much dryness is already going on, but we have to be careful not to get too wet either .... ys pd
