Shanka Prabhu Leaves His Body

 

Hare Krishna. Shanka Prabhu has left us to continue his eternal service to Srila Prabhupada while listening to Kirtan, holding his beads. He was very kind soul. He put his hand on my head last week & said I am like your father. It was my second time over at Damayanti’s home to serve him. He did not know me that much. But what a sweet way to put someone at ease!

On 15th October, I was wearing this Radharani Maha bracelet, he took it from me and said Radharani was calling him! He absolutely did not bother to ask for permission to take it! Such a simple heart filled with Radharani’s love and her potency to feed 100,000+ plates of Prasadam! He cooked for 50 years! He recently said he wants to go, start a garden for Prabhupada. He was always happy, and enjoying life to the very end. I have not seen anyone like him! May Krishna bless us with a fragment of that pure heart he had!

[PADA: There are a number of simple souls who came to ISKCON to serve Krishna, and unfortunately many / most of them got exiled from the official mission one way or other by machination tricks from the leaders. A lot of them just could not deal with the heavy handed GBC process -- so they sort of kept a low profile and tried to do some simple, low key service -- on the side.

I understand that. Similar things happened in the Gaudiya Matha, many of the simple servant type folks just went out and tried to continue their Krishna consciousness as best they could -- with or without the official mission. It is an ongoing problem now that many of these simple soul devotees types are getting quite elderly -- and they don't have much of a health care fund, helpers or assistance, or sometimes even basic housing facility -- in their ripe old age.

And Krishna certainly knows that -- they came to serve Him and their situation got hijacked or dismantled. Anyway, I really don't know who this prabhu is, but we wish him well. God speed spirit soul! ys pd]
