[PADA: Goody. When I said in 1978 that "Srila Prabhupada should be the current acharya, not Jayatirtha," all sorts of people thought the last marble rolling around my brain had dropped out. What an offender! We need to worship the living person, His Divine Grinch Illicit Sex and Drugs Pada, our Eternal Tirtha!
OK maybe not.
What is happening to all these living people? Yep, they are dying off -- left, right and center, or already dead. Srila Prabhupada said his vani would live forever, and these living gurus, ok not so much.
I have some other friends in Russia and they tell me the ISKCON situation is pretty Wild West, out of control. The GBC is not really managing well there, and so lots of nutty things are going on. And there is basically little to no checks and balances. The bad news is, this is not helpful because bad publicity has already been going on. The good news is, there is not so much organized process to oppose the Prabhupadanugas.
PADA has had readership from Russia and former Soviet states all along, so there are folks over there looking at these issues.

Hare Krishna Sundar Gopal Prabhu! All glories to Srila Prabhupada! Lord Krsna has sent us a dedicated active Mataji to Sanga SKM. She is now actively developing a group in the social network and wants to get initiated too.
Here is the text of her group on the web-this group is dedicated to the activities of vaishnavis (women in the hare Krishna Movement), devotees from Russia who joined the international Sri Krishna Mandir, because this organization (ISKM) strictly follows the instructions of our spiritual teacher, acarya - His divine Grace Abhay Charanaravinda Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada and is engaged in preaching the message of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu in many countries of the world. The group was created to communicate and support women seeking spiritual perfection while living in the modern world. We will discuss the specific spiritual practices of women in Krsna consciousness through the lens of the Scriptures, quotations, and letters of Srila Prabhupada. RE Russia Prabhupadanugas (Update) Problem in Russia — same with India — they are primarily focussing on improving their material situation and to use ISKCON's infrastructure in another way. When this doesn't happen there is friction. Why everywhere temples are managed now by Indian / Russian devotees especially in the USA? These are university graduates who focus to find a well-paid job. Of course, they also might donate when having found a job. So this is the new business model how temples are used to accomodate imported devotees, university graduates who try to find jobs. The idea that Prabhupada is the guru for ISKCON attacks this program of using ISKCON as a bridge for material advancement.
ReplyDelete[PADA: Yep, the ISKCON temples have become basically Hindu cultural halls. They were doing the car poojas, weddings, funerals all over. Delhi was getting huge sums for wedding ceremonies, but all that has ended with the virus problem. So their business model is shaking at present. That is good for us, they are weaker position to continue to attack and sue our people. Russian devotee women started a forum for abused women, they are catching on. You can't fool all the people all the time ... ys pd]
