ISKCON’s proposal on women acharyas opposed (The Hindu newspaper)
Sri Vaishnava acharyas express concern over the organisation going against established doctrines.
The proposal of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) to allow women to become acharyas within its society has been opposed by leading Sri Vaishnava acharyas in the country.
The week-long meeting of the Governing Body Commission (GBC), ISKCON’s highest decision making body headquartered at Mayapura, began here on Friday, where the proposal is among the subjects for discussion.
In a letter written to the GBC, which met at Mayapura for the annual general meeting in March 2019, M.A. Lakshmi Thathachar, presiding acharya of Anantarya Peetam in Melkote (Karnataka), expressed concern over the reputed organisation going against the ‘sishtachara’ (established doctrines) vis-a-vis ‘mantropadesa’ and initiation by women preceptors.
“If an internationally famous organisation like ISKCON is successful in going against the Sishtachara, probably the other schools of Vedanta like Ramanuja, Vallabha, Nimbarka may follow suit, which is not desirable,” he opined.
Muralidhara Bhattar, chief priest of Sri Ranganatha Swamy temple in Srirangam (Tamil Nadu), opined in a separate letter to the GBC in March that the proposal to introduce women ‘diksa guru’ system would set a bad example to followers of Sanatana Dharma and would have wider ramifications for other schools of thought. In the letter mailed by him to the GBC, a copy of which is available with The Hindu, he called such decisions as ‘asastriyam’ (unscientific) and against proper ‘acharam and anushtanam’ (rituals and norms).
Lakshmi kumara Thatachariyar, renowned scholar in Ramanuja philosophy and professor at Raja Sanskrit College, Kumbakonam (Tamil Nadu), felt that ISKCON’s decision should not influence and mislead other dharmas.
“After the Sabarimala incident, it is already a push from outside factors and ISKCON doing so will give strength to ‘adharmic parties’ of modern world to push ‘adharma’ in our sampradaya,” he opined in a letter.
‘Think twice’
“The decision is not in tune with ISKCON’s rigorous adherence to scriptures,” Krishna Kirti Dasa (formerly Chris Shannon), a member of ISKCON order associated with the panel of sastric and scientific researchers, told the media here on Friday.
He cautioned the highest decision making body to think twice before voting on this proposal.

[PADA: Yet rather oddly, ISKCON leader Jayadvaita admits that the ISKCON "acharyas" are many times falling into illicit sex with men, women and children -- and apparently almost no one from these "India scholar groups" seems to find that so-called guru sampradaya "against shastra." Its a good thing we were born as Christians, because at least we knew all along that deviants cannot be viewed as the successors to God. And we still know that now because Srila Prabhupada taught the same idea. Srila Prabhupada says when a guru has sex with a female follower, its the same as a father having sex with his daughter. Thus, from that point of view all of these sexual predator gurus are like pedophiles.
The Christians do not accept that deviants are the successors to God, only a qualified person such as Jesus can be. And yes, Srila Prabhupada teaches the same thing, there is no such thing as a deviant being the successor to God.
I find it simply astonishing that ISKCON can promote their illicit sex with men, women and children guru parampara, a chain of sometimes the most odious deviants posing as God's successors, and we hardly hear a peep of complaint from the "scholars" over there. And worse, in India masses of people come to hear from the leaders of the molester's acharya program like Radhanath, Bhakti vikas swami, Bhakti Caru swami et al., all of whom are voted into the sex with taxi driver's acharya sampradaya. And that makes them -- bona fide?
Illicit sex with men, women and children "male body" gurus is not the problem, making women into gurus is the problem? Maybe these scholars should listen to women, like maybe their own mothers, and make them the guru of these scholars. Their mothers are women who would probably not endorse an illicit sex with men, women and children guru parampara? Of course even my 85 year old cat lady grandma neighbor would never endorse an illicit sex with men, women and children guru parampara. She knows better, and maybe she should be made their guru?
How many regular people walking down the street in the USA think an "illicit sex with men, women and children -- and taxi drivers" "chain of gurus from God" is bona fide? OK about zero, they are more advanced than a lot of these alleged scholars. Yep, thanks to you Lord Jesus that you gave us the idea that the successor to God has to be as pure as God, you saved us from the hands of some of these self-annointed "scholars."
Why don't these "scholars" simply agree with PADA, there is no such thing as a debauchee filled guru parampara, with or without voted in "women co-gurus." Nor can a debauchee laden guru parampara vote for any acharyas, male or female is not the real root problem. On the other hand, many ISKCON women mothers did speak out about the "molesting of children issue" and they were often as not -- suppressed if not booted out of the society. Maybe we should find some of these exiled women and make them the new ISKCON co-leaders and maybe get some moral sense brought back into this GBC leadership sabha? ys pd]

TD: Our Acaryas have established our Doctrine and Standard Practice according to the Shasta’s which warn that if the Shastric injunctions are ignored this will lead to the Destruction of the Sampradaya. Guru, Sadhu and Shastra are the Absolute Authorities and mustn’t be Ignored, Misinterpreted or Misused. This is the sad and dangerous position of ISKCON at present and their actions not only threaten our Brahma-Madhava- Gaudiya Vaisnava Sampradaya, but also the other Bonafide Sampradayas. Demons have taken control of ISKCON.

PADA: Right, if other India guru sampradayas allow or worse endorse the GBC's debauchee acharya's process, then the whole India religion and Vedic culture will be contaminated in guilt by association. Its amazing that we foolish Western mleccha born people know that the actual INDIA guru parampara is not contaminated, but many of their big INDIA "scholars" are clueless on this topic and they end up supporting the debauchee guru process of the GBC.
We have to thank Jesus and Srila Prabhupada for allowing us to see how badly these scholars are in illusion. Yes, they seem to have no concern for the debauchee's guru process, but if a woman wants to join that bogus group, they are out to raise the roof in complaint.
Same as our Dayalu Nitai HKC Jaipur "scholars." They are claiming to be for Prabhupada, but if anyone opposes the Gaudiya Matha / GBC's sexual predator guru program and its defenders like Bhakta das, they immediately come to defend the molester guru program and cite Bhakta das as their authority.
And worse, HKC Jaipur folks told me they are defending the pedophile guru process and its hand maidens like Bhakta das because "we are scholars on Vedic religion and you are not." So only "bona fide Vedic scholars" defend bogus acharyas, and us foolish mlecchas -- do not? And this is now a concern for the Paramadvaiti process, many "scholars" helped and promoted this guy too. Sheesh! We have no idea how lucky we are to be born as mlecchas apparently? hee hee! ys pd
