How Devotees Become Demons?

SRILA PRABHUPADA:

"So Kṛṣṇa wanted to take them with Him, because they came to help Kṛṣṇa, and after His departure, these demigods would turn into demons. That He did not like to see."
----

"So this Yadu dynasty, Kṛṣṇa thought that "In My absence they are powerful... Because they, to assist Me..." "To assist Me" means... He had two missions: paritrāṇāya sādhūnāṁ vināśāya ca duṣkṛtām [Bg. 4.8]. They have killed so many demons. Everywhere they came out victorious because Kṛṣṇa was there. Now, in the absence of Kṛṣṇa, they would be puffed up.

Therefore they would be turned again into demons: "Oh, I belong to Kṛṣṇa's family." Just like in our country, Nityānanda-vaṁśa: "I belong to the Nityānanda Prabhu," exploiting people. The Muhammadans also: "I belong to the family of Muhammad, Hazrat Muhammad." Christ has no family; he did not marry. Otherwise some would have been very much puffed up, "I am family of Christ." So this material nature is such thing that as soon as you get little power, you become puffed up.

That is demonic nature. That is demonic nature. So Kṛṣṇa wanted to take them with Him, because they came to help Kṛṣṇa, and after His departure, these demigods would turn into demons. That He did not like to see. Therefore this Yadu dynasty was placed (fighting) amongst themselves. Because there was no other person to kill the Yadu..., and any one of the Yadu dynasty. Therefore this fratricidal war was manufactured and they died. "

PADA: Hmmm? The demigods would be serving Krishna nicely while He was here, but only under His direct presence and supervision. Without His overseeing them, they would start to --- deviate -- become puffed up -- and become a dangerous burden on the earth. In sum, they would become demoniac.

And the Gaudiya Matha's leaders had motivated people who were kept at bay while Srila Saraswati was managing things, but as soon as their guru departed "everything burst out." Thus in 1936, the leaders started to deviate without the supervision of Srila Bhaktisiddhanta, and they began to declare they are NOW the exclusive successors to Krishna.

We also had a sort of similar fractured process that happened in ISKCON after 1977. First, the followers divided up into competing "guru" camps, and there was a lot of infighting among the various leaders. Disciples of gurus from one zone were not always welcome in another zone, because they might be "poaching" disciples away from that zone to their guru's zone and so forth.

There was a lot of infighting, and the society's welfare was not really the priority, just building various independent guru fiefdom's. Then the criminal process expanded without any real checks and balances, and things became -- demoniac.

All this was producing a lot of friction among the followers of the various gurus right out of the gate. Simultaneously, there was at least some unity among the crooked leaders, they made a united war to purge the original Prabhupada disciples from ISKCON. The leaders all pretty much agreed to that, and thus many temples were then stripped of their "Prabhupada disciples." That means now -- the foxes were totally in charge of watching the chicken coop.

This is why we are often asked, if the leaders loved Srila Prabhupada so much, why did they hate his followers so much -- they wanted them removed wholesale? And if the leaders loved Srila Prabhupada so much, why did they orchestrate so many exploiting conditions for the gurukula children of Srila Prabhupada? And why were so many Srila Prabhupada women exploited as cash cow collectors if they were being "protected by the leaders"? In short, where was the love for Srila Prabhupada if there was not much love for his children and family members?

OK, without the supervision of Srila Prabhupada, they would revert to being demons. Is there a better explanation? ys pd

We are preaching Krishna consciousness the greatest platform of harmony,
