I was in Vrndavana and speaking to a GBC guru's disciple who expressed a desire to do deity worship, but could not because he was only a first initiate. I advised him to ask his guru for second initiation, to which he replied that it was to expensive for him.
Confused by this I asked him to explain and he told me that to get initiation in Russia where he came from one had to give the Regional Secretary payment so that he would recommend them. Shocked by this I asked if his guru knew about this an he said, Oh yes, this is the process there.
