Bhakti Sharan Shanta Maharaja Battling Cancer

Living at New Govardhana devotee community of Lithuania, His Holiness Bhakti Sharan Shanta Maharaja. He is in the middle of a battle with cancer. He is one of the older devotees from the previous Soviet era, when this country was ruled from Russia, and has done vast amounts of preaching service.

[PADA: Yes, as a matter of fact -- it seems odd that so many of our Vaishnava community members, from all camps actually, seem to be suffering from fatal ailments such as cancer. Many numbers of them left their bodies already, and they simply did not survive the process. Others are in various stages of these ailments currently. 

And thus another problem is -- that the GBC has not created a good place for most of the rank and file ailing people to go and take shelter of, where they could get medical help and -- simultaneously experience a nice spiritual atmosphere, something like a devotee hospice, while they are in the process of leaving their bodies. It seems like mainly the GBC elites are getting nice medical help (like Jayapataka). 

Personally, I feel a number of these cases of fatal ailments are caused in part, maybe in large part, by all the stress related to the GBC's guru imbroglio, which is causing undue mental anxiety to a number of folks. Srila Prabhupada did say stress can cause illness, and we believe, that is a fact. Anyway, as my friendly neighbor tells me, expect the worst -- but hope for the best. 

I do think a lot of these types of people are more or less victims of the whole mess, they just could not deal with it (as happened to most rank and file in the Gaudiya Matha). Its sad, but those who fail to heed history, are condemned to re-live it.
