IMPORTANT UPDATE ON: Just got off the phone with Mother Jagaddhatri.
Raghu John Giuffre Rg, son of Jagaddhatri Mataji, Jean Prem is a real life HERO. Just a day or two ago, he saved his mother's life from an attacker. Raghu was stabbed 27 times, and 13 of those stabs to the head. After surgery, punctured lung, severed tendons in fingers etc. Raghu for the first time, stood today in the hospital. That's a miracle! Medically, he should not be alive. Jagaddhatri mataji (his mother) said the doctors wanted to see if Raghu could stand. The doctors were concerned if he could stand at all; Because as Raghu got in front of the attacker, to keep the attacker from getting to his mother's room, the attacker was cutting his legs to stop him. Raghu was non-stop chanting. It's a miracle at all, that he can stand! So thank you Krsna!
Jagaddhatri mataji said as all this was going on, Raghu said to his mother he didn't care about the attack, but for her to just keep chanting. He told her don't stop chanting Hare Krsna. He never stopped chanting Hare Krsna during this whole ordeal.
Mother Jagaddhatri kept saying over and over again that the love and support she's getting from the devotees is overwhelming. She can't thank everyone enough. She kept saying over and over, "please tell the devotees how grateful I am for their love and support." Please keep them in your prayers. May Srila Prabhupada keep Raghu forever under the protection of his lotus feet. Raghu's recovery will be a slow process. Pray for a miracle!

[PADA: This is the report we have had: That one of our original gurukulis, Raghunatha prabhu, has 27 stab wounds, 13 of which are on his head. He has a collapsed and punctured left lung. He was apparently attacked by a disgruntled rental tenant, and saved by another ex-kuli, a young woman who distracted the attacker.
Prayers to Krishna for his health and recovery -- much appreciated. This is another example of how at least some of our ex-gurukulis have not had a place to serve in current ISKCON, and thus some of them are living in very insecure, troubling and apparently potentially hazardous conditions.
This is a very sad day for all contemporary Krishna devotees in the West in our opinion, that at least some of our young people are struggling with extremely dangerous things like -- nasty tenants -- and other crazy problems, because there is not much shelter for them from the organization. Raghu is a sincere and heartfelt person and we wish him all the best. ys pd]
