Are Vrndavan Widows Protected by Lord Krishna? (Youthkiawaaz)

PADA: Many of these women are social castaways, but they often end up trying to do at least some sort of service to Krishna such as bhajans. There is really no organized facility for them. It is a very harsh reality for a lot of these ladies. I'd like to see some sort of regular outreach program to assist them, and it is amazing nothing like that seems to ever get done properly over there. When you are old and on your own in India, you are really in a mess. 

The good news is, they are at least living in the dham -- seeing Krishna's deities in all the temples -- and that gives them at least some sort of connection to Lord Krishna. It almost seems like Krishna is forcing them to surrender, and Srila Prabhupada says when Krishna is especially merciful, He forces the conditioned soul to take shelter of Him by taking everything else away. 

Perhaps these ladies have fit that description. 

Some of the Narayan Maharaja folks claim they are giving some sort of material relief effort to help these ladies, let us hope so. They are Brijabasis by some means or other, so they should be cared for -- at least minimal levels. ys pd
