Srila Prabhupada Festival Today in NYC

Dandavat pranams!
Today, Saturday, September 19th, marks the 50th anniversary of Srila Prabhupada's first landing in New York City! In 1985, we held the 20th anniversary celebration of this event at the precise location that Prabhupada landed -- at the 17th street pier in Brooklyn. The pier is not accessible anymore as it is part of a Department of Sanitation complex.
We will celebrate in Tompkins Square Park under The Tree where Srila Prabhupada attracted his first disciples and followers while chanting the maha-mantra.
Join us for a sweet, short and simple celebration and remembrance of Srila Prabhupada. If you play any instruments (mrdanga, kartals, trumpet, etc.) please bring those for the kirtan and harinam.
And, if you would like to contribute a brief glorification of Srila Prabhupada we will have time for that at the beginning of the celebration, starting with the senior direct disciples of Srila Prabhupada. We are fortunate that His Holiness Srila Bodayan Maharaj is in NYC at this time and from Tompkins Square Park we will have a harinam and from there he will be having at program at 6:30 PM in midtown Manhattan.
