Our GBC Must Stop the Blasphemy Now!
Or Suffer the Consequences
BY: GOPA DASA
Recently two sannyasi gurus have publicly blasphemed Srila Prabhupada and the Samkirtan movement's sincere devotees. First there was Jayadvaita declaring on video that those devotees who are not 'direct' disciples of Srila Prabhupada should be discouraged from glorifying Srila Prabhupada during Mangala arati. Mockingly, he held his hands in the air and mimicked:
"Jaya Prabhupada !!
Jaya Prabhupada !!"
and then added.
"What the HELL is that?"
Now Hridayananda has ridiculed the Vaisnavas that regularly go out on Harinams by stating, again on video:
"If you want to see a fairy tale world, and I don't mean to offend Vaisnavas because they're great souls, but you can see on Youtube, you can see these harinam parties, sometimes in European capitals, where devotees are jubilant, you can just see, 'We're saving the world, we're saving the world' (mockingly) and everyone is just walking by. It's like parallel universes. It's just parallel universes. We're not in the real world...."
This is totally incredible and proof positive that the speaker needs to follow his Spiritual Master's orders and go out on Harinam himself for some long overdue purification. He has simply lost the plot, and my belief is that it is due to his previous massive offences, when he himself was telling Fairy Tales to us.
Here is how I personally remember the story.....
Once Upon a Time - Eleven neophytes decided to caste a spell over their naive Godbrothers and Godsisters. This spell was so evil and powerful that it blinded many sincere devotees to the point that they agreed to sit these eleven young neophytes on thrones and worship them as good as God, within Srila Prabhupada's temples.
That this was indeed a fabrication, a sinister deception, has now been accepted by practically everyone in our movement. In fact, Back to Godhead magazine even made a full apology for their part in supporting and colluding in the Fairy Tale. We know it was a made up story to keep the kids quiet because with hindsight, we have had the time to go back and look at ALL the evidence.
Here is what Srila Prabhupada predicted in his famous 4th canto Srimad Bhagavatam purport:
"Whenever an acarya [Spiritual Master] comes, following the superior orders of the Supreme Personality of Godhead or His representative, he establishes the principles of religion, as enunciated in Bhagavad-gita.... Unfortunately, when the acarya disappears, rogues and nondevotees take advantage and immediately begin to introduce unauthorized principles in the name of so-called svamis, yogis, philanthropists, welfare workers and so on….The acarya, the authorized representative of the Supreme Lord, establishes these principles, but when he disappears, things once again become disordered. The perfect disciples of the acarya try to relieve the situation by sincerely following the instructions of the spiritual master….Similarly, a devoted disciple of the spiritual master would rather die with the spiritual master than fail to execute the spiritual master's mission." (Srimad-Bhagavatam 4.28.48,50,51)
Please note again:
"Unfortunately, when the acarya disappears, rogues and nondevotees take advantage and immediately begin to introduce unauthorized principles"
Although this evil spell was effective for some time, eventually, like all the "best laid plans of mice and men", the cracks began to appear.
Now, almost 40 years later, we are left with a totally divided Society that is undoubtedly floundering, although from an external point of view it may appear to be making some progress. ISKCON simply has still not recovered from that first devastating attack of Maya.
Unless the members of the Krsna Consciousness movement remember that our primary duty is to first and foremost stick strictly to the four vows and chanting minimum 16 rounds on beads, and to then propagate the Holy Names with as much enthusiasm as possible - this movement will continue, step by step, to turn into another mundane religion.
Those that have the eyes to see, let them see.
Later in the video we hear the following: "There's not one religion in Germany or in America or Canada, that is growing, that is actually succeeding, where the members in general go out in public in a way that is very exotic. It does not exist. There IS no successful group like that."
But Srila Prabhupada, who is meant to be our "Pre-eminent instructing spiritual master and Founder-Acarya" said to his leading disciples during the formative years of ISKCON:
"All other things are subsidiary. This chanting is our life and soul, so we must arrange our program now so that there will be as much chanting on the streets and at college engagements as possible." (SPL to Satsvarupa, 14th May, 1969)
"This is making our movement very popular more and more, so in any circumstances, you all go together outdoors for kirtana at least for one hour daily. (Letter to Krsna Dasa – Columbus, Ohio, May17th 1969)
"…at least for one hour you must all go to have Sankirtana outside on the streets or in the park. That is your life and soul, first business.
(Letter to Rayarama – Columbus, Ohio, May17th 1969)
"Otherwise you can stop these activities, but outdoor kirtana must be done, even at the cost of suspending all editorial work. That is your first and foremost business." (To Rayarama)
"Temple worship is not so important. If need be, the whole temple can be locked, but the outdoor kirtana cannot be stopped." (Also to Rayarama)
"This sankirtana party, backed by literatures and books, will certainly bring in a great change in the modern civilization." (Letter to Hamsaduta, 1st April, 1970)
...and from 4th Canto of Srimad Bhagavatam (emphasis added):
"At the present moment there is a similar need to perform saṅkīrtana-yajña all over the world. The Kṛṣṇa consciousness movement has started performing saṅkīrtana-yajña in different places, and it has been experienced that wherever saṅkīrtana-yajña is performed, many thousands of people gather and take part in it. IMPERCEPTIBLE AUSPICIOUSNESS achieved in this connection SHOULD BE CONTINUED all over the world.

IMPERCEPTIBLE AUSPICIOUSNESS achieved in this connection SHOULD BE CONTINUED all over the world.
The members of the Kṛṣṇa consciousness movement should perform saṅkīrtana-yajñas one after another, so much that all the people of the world will either jokingly or seriously chant Hare Kṛṣṇa, Hare Kṛṣṇa, Kṛṣṇa Kṛṣṇa, Hare Hare/ Hare Rāma, Hare Rāma, Rāma Rāma, Hare Hare, and thus they will derive the benefit of cleansing the heart. The holy name of the Lord (harernāma [Adi 17.21]) is SO POWERFUL that whether it is chanted jokingly or seriously the effect of vibrating this transcendental sound will be equally distributed. It is not possible at the present moment to perform repeated yajñas as Mahārāja Barhiṣat performed, but it is within our means to perform saṅkīrtana-yajña, which does not cost anything. One can sit down anywhere and chant Hare Kṛṣṇa, Hare Kṛṣṇa, Kṛṣṇa Kṛṣṇa, Hare Hare/ Hare Rāma, Hare Rāma, Rāma Rāma, Hare Hare. If the surface of the globe is over-flooded with the chanting of the Hare Kṛṣṇa mantra, the people of the world will be VERY VERY HAPPY."
Dear Prabhus, please do not be hoodwinked by the false propaganda that Street Chanting parties have become outdated or somehow less relevant. They are more important now than ever before. Please do not sit and watch as our misguided civilisation slips further and further into the grimy grasp of Kali Yuga.
The world needs to see Lord Chaitanya's Harinam Parties on the streets of EVERY TOWN & VILLAGE of the world - and as much as possible - on every single day of the week, just as Srila Prabhupada ordered - and just as was done in the early days.
Millions of people came to know and love the devotees for their street chanting. Only those that do not take part in it can not understand this. George Harrison was so convinced of our sincerity by seeing us out on the streets of London, hail, shine or snow, that he helped our movement make a massive leap forward just by supporting us publicly. What to speak of his Krsna Conscious songs and his financial gifts.
Devotees just need to have the faith that just by going out on Harinam in public places, and enthusiastically singing and dancing - distributing Srila Prabhupada's books along with some prasadam - all things will be arranged by Krsna.
Of course that does not mean that we should not preach on other levels and in other innovative ways. BUT the backbone of our movement should be the Harinam Parties.
