Open Abuse of Devotees (by Lalita dd)
I just wanted to comment on a recent article by Mahapurusha dasa titled "Higher Ethical and Moral Standards". I really can't believe that Ravindra Svarupa dasa is still in power after all of this. Obviously the evidence is stacked against him and he even admits that he assaulted Ghandharvika dasi, in convoluted terms. How is it that we can have clear and open abuse of devotees in this movement and this person is still in charge?
And where is the outrage from the esteemed female leaders like Malati, Laksmimoni and Urmila Prabhus? Its funny that they are all pushing for female gurus, but are failing to stand up for the very basic human treatment of women in this movement. It proves to me, and other female devotees that I know, that they clearly care more about their positions of power than they do for advocating for the decent treatment of other matajis.
Another interesting thing I noticed after following this incident from the beginning, is the complete lack of defense from any of this so-called gurus disciples and from any individual ISKCON leaders. This really indicates that everyone else probably feels the way me and other devotees I know feel about this issue. If we have clear and open abuse of devotees, whether male or female, I think this movement is finished. How can any women in ISKCON stand for this? The GBC, especially Malati, should be totally ashamed. I saw a picture of her sitting next to Ravindra recently at a GBC meeting. Some advocate she is for women in this movement.
He needs to resign. I have seen devotees treated badly before but this is ridiculous. And Ghandharvika should also be ashamed of herself for not standing up for herself and not pushing for his resignation. I understand why she minimized it, but it is a disservice to Vaishnavis everywhere.
But this is my message to Ravindra: Everyone knows what you did, how can you be so shameless? Step down on your own, because when Krishna gets rid of you, which He will, it's not going to be pretty. This guy has to be stopped, and I am calling on the female leaders especially. It's really a shame how they sold out to the "good old boys" club and threw the rest of us women under a bus. A leader shouldn't even touch a person in the private areas of their body, what to speak of kicking them there. Ravindra, you need to go immediately.
