*** So, for fear of making the wrong buy - "buyer beware" - as in the example of the used car you took, i.e. of accepting as diksha guru, a conditioned soul who may become a kripa-siddha pure devotee by the mercy of his sat gurudeva, one will prefer to walk all the way, while meditating on his father or grand-father who only had the privilege of having a car in good condition, i.e. as per your example, a bona fide guru...
[PD: Jayadvaita swami says that most of the time the ISKCON gurus will fail, and fail with illicit sex. He even wrote that there is a big problem with "illicit sex with men, women and possibly children" amongst these gurus. That is what he said, not me! Virabahu dasa is even more direct, he wrote that 95% of the ISKCON's sannyasas (gurus) will fail. Even a used car business would fail if most of its cars, or 95%, fell apart on their customers, and caused wreckage everywhere? Can any company survive by advertising that 95% of its product is dangerous and faulty, and cannot even work for more than a few years without danger to the user?
This means, the GBC is not taking the time to inspect their used cars before putting them out for sale? Then again, we are giving people a brand new golden winged trascendental Cadillac that will take them back to Godhead for sure, so we do not have any of your used car problems at all?
Srila Prabhupada says, there is no question of a bad guru, if he is bad, he was never authorized in the first place. You fail to explain why we need to worship a "buyer beware" used car type guru in the first place? Where in our tradition do we worship gurus who are mostly failing, and being advertised as buyer beware used cars? How can we offer bhogha to people who are failing? Who started this idea of offering bhogha to people who are failing? This is all unauthorized, we need to offer bhogha to the pure devotee, that is the process.]
*** So, according to this logic, no car would be better than a used car...?!
[PD: No, we have nice preaching going on all over the place? We never said stop the preaching, we said preach the right thing, i.e. advertise the brand new transcendental golden Cadillac process, not the broken down VW with a blown out motor process? We are giving people a vehicle that is guaranteed not to break down ever, that means forever. We also follow the basic kindergarten bhogha offering, we offer to the pure devotee, that is the whole idea of making prasadam. This idea of offering bhogha to the sadhaka, this is never done anywhere.]
*** However, to the contrary, many have made the choice to take the risk and get connected with the Parampara, by accepting as guru, a devotee who may have had some past conditioned life, but who is steadily engaged in the process of purification and renovation (refurbishing as per your example), the old car being gradually replaced by an eternal vehicle, a siddha deha, which will carry anyone who fares along, back home back to Godhead...
[PD: Srila Prabhupada in 1971 told us to never allow people to touch our feet -- or we would be acting as a guru and taking their sins, and this would make us get sick, fall down, or both. These neophyte gurus are "giving diksha" (which also means to absorb sins like Jesus) and taking all kinds of sins, without any authority and how did you guess, they are getting sick and falling down. They are not even following the most basic thing we were told in 1971, do not allow others to touch your feet -- because then you will be acting as gurus, and if your allow this, then this is a serious aparadha and you will fail. So these people are not even following the kindergarten instructions, how can they advance? Worse, they are defying the instruction and allowing people to touch their feet en masse? People who defy the orders of guru cannot advance properly, so we see this all the time, there is failure left, right and center. ys pd]
