PADA: It does seem as though more folks are starting to figure out that the "live animal markets of China" are linked to the spread of serious virus problems. In fact these markets are almost ideal mixing areas for all sorts of diseases and there is little being done to quarantine these animals from the other animals, or to provide containment and hygiene etc. at these markets.
And if the animals have a virus, this could then be transmitted to humans, and then around the world if not contained. I am not saying that Michael Osterholm is 100 percent accurate, but he does have a good understanding of the connection to diseases in animals transferring their diseases to humans.
And if that is the case, it seems the mistreatment and consumption of animals is creating a sort of collective karma for the entire world for allowing all this to go on, or for people to be participating in this process in different ways themselves. Anyway, this guy is certainly more of an expert than most people and he might have some good advice and warnings here.
All of this means for us, the ISKCON devotees as a group failed to make Krishna's self-sufficient rural communities that Srila Prabhupada told us to build. And he told us, all of these types of bad karma things were coming down the pipeline for the big urban cities. We did not take his warnings seriously, and so now its come to the state -- where most devotees are simply not prepared for the urban decay process -- which by the way is also more or less prophecy in the Christian faith as well -- there will be deterioration. And such outcomes are more or less commonly understood in all the Hollywood disaster movies they make all the time. Anyway, I find this guy interesting, check if out of you want. ys pd
