From Kunkuma Devi Dasi: It’s with a heavy heart and blessings from his family (who aren’t on facebook) that I want to tell everyone that last night December 16 at 11:45pm Hawaii time His Grace Revatinandan (former Swami) passed away in Honolulu after a short illness which was diagnosed as lymph cancer.
He was my partner for 5 years about 6 years after having been married to his first wife Pushpanjali Dasi, and having a child Nila Chala Chandra das. He was first cousin to Vishnujana Swami who brought him to ISKCON in 1968.
He has been living as a recluse alone many years on the south part of the island of Hawaii. His first wife was in touch with him and helped him through the last days. They were reluctant to send him to hospital but had no choice.
His son Nila was on a telemedicine tv as he passed. So he was not alone. When Srila Prabhupada awarded him sannyas Prabhupada said, “if you don’t succeed as sannyas then find yourself a good wife.”
As per the request from the family of Revatinandan das who passed on December 16 in Honolulu, they asked for this quote in his memory: “He reasons ill who tells that Vaisnavas die When thou art living still in sound! The Vaisnavas die to live, and living try To spread the holy name around!” (Bhaktivinode Thakur)”
[PADA: Revatinandan dasa was a good friend of mine. In 1976 we discussed how a letter that was made by Srila Prabhupada and addressed to me, never got to me, because evidently Tamal withheld my letter. So we were saying -- they are already hiding his letters, what other machinations are they up to? And he told me "I can no longer work with any of these leaders, I am going to have to quit ISKCON altogether -- sooner or later." And he did.
More recently he was saying ISKCON is going to fail unless we fix it, and soon. Of course -- who is going to fix it? And he was living as a recluse, like a lot of devotees, they are exiled and fried and want no part of the current ISKCON guru imbroglio. And then he got -- cancer -- which seems to be the main cause of death for ISKCON's Vaishnavas these days. Or is it -- just me -- who sees that?
Anyway, he is another victim of the GBC's guru mess IMHO. I wish him well in any case. He was able to perform very ecstatic kirtanas, and that is one reason they had to get rid of him, he was too popular and powerful (like Vishnujana).
So now Revatinandan dasa, your oppression by these GBC guru oppressors is over. For good! Let your soul be free -- and with Krishna. God speed spirit soul!
