Candravali, who was one of Prabhupada's senior disciples and who had pioneered ISKCON’s preaching in Mexico with her husband, voiced a complaint.
Candravali: Prabhupad, we hear that in our philosophy the men should treat the women as mothers. But actually, the men, especially the sannyasis, don’t treat the women as mothers. Instead they treat them as maya. Their attitude, not the women, seems more like maya! It doesn’t seem proper.
Prabhupad heard her complaint carefully. He smiled softly and began to reply. His words dropped from his mouth as if they were sweet ripe fruits falling from a tree.
Prabhupad: Yes, the men do not treat the women as mothers. Nor do the women act like mothers. Neither do they dress as mothers.

PADA: Candravali was totally depressed and upset with the way she was being treated and she ended up being totally neglected and living in an old folks home with no assistance from ISKCON. She was smoking a cigarette, and she fell asleep and the cigarette caught her bed on fire and she was burnt to death. That is the unfortunate result of not caring for these devotees.

Of course a number of men also ended up being neglected and living in dire conditions. Yes, not only women were maya, many children were maya, and that is why we had to have the Bhurijana program sued for $400,000,000 for child abuse. Even kids were maya, they were neglected too. ys pd

PADA: Yes, Kailasa said that only qualified people can get diksha and that means he is saying the GBC are the only people qualified because they got diksha. Why does Kailasa say that molesters are the only people qualified to get diksha and our people are not qualified? Because our people are not molesters?

PADA: Yes, Kailasa said that only qualified people can get diksha and that means he is saying the GBC are the only people qualified because they got diksha. Why does Kailasa say that molesters are the only people qualified to get diksha and our people are not qualified? Because our people are not molesters?
And the other problem is that when Kailasa blocks initiations, then the deities have no servants. In the Gaudiya Matha they had temples that were like ghost towns, and the deities were not kept up. That is because they did what Kailasa does, they blocked making new pujaris. You folks want Krishna to live in a ghetto with no servants since 1936?
We want Krishna to have many servants and to be in opulent conditions. Why do you folks never answer the questions? Molesters are the only people qualified to get diksha, our people are not molesters, so they are not qualified. Isn't that how a lot of molesters happened?
Brahamana is by qualification and not by saying only deviants are qualified, and because our people are not deviants, they are not qualified. That is ALSO how you folks make Krishna live in a ghetto with no servants. Locking up the mantras is also called mayavada by Srila Prabhupada. Anyway we are making devotees, temples, and deity programs because we do not want Krishna to live in a ghetto wearing rags and getting improper service with no mantras. ys pd

PA: I am inspired by everyone that comments positively as well as negatively to my writing. Whenever I find myself upset that Hare Krishna's are abusive I see myself reflected there and how far I still need to go to continue writing publicly about my experience with Iskcon International society for Krishna consciousness up till the age of 18 when I left because I was not a very good person as a Hare Krishna devotee and didn't feel comfortable being with Hare Krishnas at all.
I still find Hare Krishnas extremely terrifying and watch every single word I say out of fear of abuse from them. After 11 years of sexual abuse in Iskcon by it's leadership, forced non disclosure agreements signed by my father Jagadatma and step mother Anuradha in ISKCON Delhi December 1996 the culture of oppression and suppression is alive and well.
KKD: I get comments from devotees in Messenger. I ask them why they don’t make their comments public. Yes, I know, and I understand.
Isn’t it a shame that devotees have to watch what they say with fear, to be worried how fellow devotees crudely react to their comments and to remain without a voice.
Our devotee society is only a safe and healthy environment when devotees can express themselves without fear and when with respect, we all accept our diversity. Till then, let’s stop pretending how transcendently advanced we are.
