Devotees in Ukraine in Crisis Status (Madhava dasa)

Crack Down On Dissenters

[PADA: Devotees who are in Russia are reporting having their phones randomly seized by roving police, who check their internet site's viewing and phone messages etc. Any messages that are critical of the Russia government, or people viewing opposing news site, can lead to a 15 years jail sentence.

Therefore, these folks wanted other people to know that they should be careful what they are doing with their phones or other devices in Russia. It sounds like a total crack down on sharing information is being implemented. That really complicates people's lives, because now they are unable to use their own communication devices without potential scrutiny from the government, and potential arrest and harsh jail time.

More difficulties for people already having a difficult time getting real time information. Meanwhile, electricity and cell towers are being taken out in Ukraine making it harder for them to communicate. Although Elon Musk has made some sort of satellite hook up for some to use.

Meanwhile some of the USA big "conservative leaders" are having a hard time explaining why they thought Russia's invading Ukraine was "smart, brilliant" and worse -- "well planned and thought out." And their messages glorifying the invasion are being re-broadcast inside Russia. Yep, how did you guess, the religious leaders of this group are also saying this invasion is "God's plan." Ummm, wait, God planned all this "well planned" event?

Evidently God thought that 78 year old ladies living in an apartment complex posed "a military threat" and so they had to be bombed out of their houses. Seriously, God is almost always the scapegoat for these war makers. Indeed God is often blamed for these types of things isn't He?

Sorry, Bhagavad Gita says the asuras will make horrible weapons and unleash them on the civilians and populations. God is not actually agreeing or supporting the activities of the asuras, although He does allow them to function -- albeit temporarily.

Nope! This is not "God's plan." In any case, we hope for the best for the devotees, and indeed everyone else. Devotees know that suffering is inevitable in the material world, and we are seeing more and more suffering conditions as Kali yuga progresses. Very unfortunate for all concerned, but oddly, no matter how bad it gets, most of the general population never seem to think that surrendering to Krishna might help. They will try every other plan, except that one. ys pd]

Madhava:

Hare Krishna dear Vaishnavas. Please accept my humble bows. All glory to Srila Prabhupada.

I want to tearfully ask all the loyal ones who are safe now....

I ask you to pray for the Vaishnavas of Mariupol - for their protection. The city has been in a complete blockade for 8 days now - there is little food, no electricity, water, heat, communication. ALL districts of the city are constantly bombing both day and night.

The peaceful ones are also exterminated - everyone is responsible, looting is already thriving there - people are in panic.

At the moment, I know 4 addresses where the devotees were grouped:

1. -- St. Levanevsky, 5 (20 devotees of them 5 children)

2. -- St. Narodovolshkaya, 64 Left Bank (12 loyal 7 of them are small children)

3. -- p.m. Nakhimova, 99 (devotees worship temple deities, how many people are unknown)

4. -- 90 Pushkina Street, (quantity is unknown but there are small children)
That's not all - just what I know.

All of them are dying of cold and hunger, the temperature in the houses as well as outside. The last 3 days there is no connection at all, so nothing is known, absolutely all communications are circumcised, the city is equal to the ground.
Many of the Mariupol devotees have done a lot for the mission of Srila Prabhupada.

The not many messages that miraculously received from them 3 days ago were prayers for help for mataj with children. I ask you to pray for them, those who can, please pray for them.

Please forward this request for prayer of His Mercy Achute Prye prabhu and other elders.

Need urgent evacuation, need a corridor.

Repeating history?:

HOLODOMOR : The famine-genocide of Ukraine, 1932-1933In June of 1933, at the height of the Holodomor, 28,000 men, women and children in Ukraine were dying of starvation each day. The land that was known worldwide as the breadbasket of Europe was being ravaged by a man-made famine of unprecedented scale.

Stalin and his followers were determined to teach the Ukrainian people “a lesson they would not forget.” Tens of thousands of Ukraine’s intellectual, spiritual, and cultural leaders were arrested, some subjected to show trials and executed, most sent to prison labor camps, often resulting in death. Ukraine’s best farmers and their families were banished to remote territories, where many perished.

Of those remaining, many resisted and staged fierce rebellions against the imposition of collectivization which would transfer not only all their property but their independence to the state. However, even though most eventually relented, Stalin’s government not only continued to increase quotas, but imposed severe new restrictions on travel in search of food, blockaded entire villages from receiving food, fuel or other necessities, and repeatedly sent out brigades of activists to raid rural households and remove anything edible.

While millions of people in Ukraine and in the mostly ethnically Ukrainian areas of the northern Caucasus were dying, the Soviet Union was denying the famine and exporting enough grain from Ukraine to have fed the entire population. For 50 years, surviving generations were forbidden to speak of it, until the Soviet Union was near collapse.

Orphans who were hiding in a basement during
three days of continual bombing going on day and night.
Yep, we had to get rid of this violent threat to the welfare of Russia!
Very dangerous! Little kids might come and hit the
Russian leaders with plastic spoons!

Events in Ukraine are changing daily, if not by the hour. Here are updates that ISKCON News has confirmed.
Devotees Among Those Cut Off in Mariupol
The direst situation faced by Ukrainian Krishna devotees may be in the city of Mariupol in southeastern Ukraine. “The devotees have been cut off,” reported Nirananjana Swami, ISKCON Governing Body Representative for Ukraine. “More than one hundred fifty devotees have been forced to leave their homes and group together in undisclosed locations for safety; meanwhile, water and power have been turned off in the city for several days. It’s a desperate situation.” Devotees are reported to have taken shelter in four different locations. It is hoped that a humanitarian passageway will be opened soon to help the devotees, and other civilians, escape that city. We request all devotees to pray for the victims of this conflict, and especially for the devotees of Mariupol.

  2. PADA: Children and others are starting to die from dehydration due to Russia cutting off the water supplies, never mind people dying from freezing, never mind the starvation, ooops and the bombs. As Srila Prabhupada says, killing others by making them suffer is far worse than just killing them outright. This is really torturing people to death.

Some Russian soldiers confronted a family and the leader said, we don't need to kill them, we killed enough of them already today. Is this some kind of daily quota?

Anwyay, looks bleak for the citizens there. Stopping the flow of water and food to a city full of people, to starve the people to death, was used way back in Biblical times to kill the citizens.

It is amazing that with all the high tech we have right now, they have to use the old tactic of killing citizens by depriving them of food and water. Anyway, this is karma, thus perhaps the people being starved now were formerly soldiers who starved others to death, and now they are reaping what they sowed. Karma is very complex.

Then again! The wise lament neither for the living or the dead. But it is hard to live through these things and not be affected. Even Maharaja Yuddhisthira was devastated at the end of Kurushetra. However, all of this is a lesson from the book of life, anyone who does not surrender to Krishna has to stay here and be subjected to the horror show known as the material world. ys pd
