Gaura Govinda Maharaja debate (update)

PADA: Gaura Govinda Maharaja says the sabda brahman does not descend from books and tapes. So we should not have books and tapes as a source of divyam jnanam, why are Gaura Govinda maharaja's people distributing his tapes?

I never said the books alone would do everything, I said the system made by Srila Prabhupada is that his followers, or we Prabhupadanugas, are going to be making temples and programs and giving people these books etc. -- and GGM said there is no "living lips" person in our system. We Prabhupadanugas are not living beings?

How can GGM declare the followers of Srila Prabhupada are not living beings, that makes no sense at all? And why is he saying the GBC made up the idea that we were once with Krishna, when Srila Prabhupada gave us that idea?

I never said the books alone were going to do everything, I said Srila Prabhupada wanted his followers to distribute his books, that was his program. I am amazed you did not know that was his program? Anyway, we are doing that now, and we have many new disciples of Prabhupada being made now, its working nicely. The idea that we have no living beings in our system is simply, false.

Yes, I spoke with Gaura Govinda maharaja personally and he told me our Prabhupadanuga idea is wrong because there is no "living lips" person in our process. He thinks the tapes and books are not living? This is not the source of sabda brahman? What is then?

Gaura Govinda maharaja also made a series of lectures saying that we did not originate with Krishna. That has nothing to do with the GBC? Srila Prabhupada says we originated in Krishna's leela or sport, that we have to return home (because that is where we came from etc.) not the GBC? You are confusing Srila Prabhupada with the GBC? Srila Prabhupada is not the GBC, and its wrong to claim his statements are theirs?

“These spirit souls and all spirit souls are coming from Vaikuntha, but in these material worlds they are taking various grades of bodies according to their material activities.” (Letter to Jagadisha, July 9, 1970 Toronto)

Unless one develops full devotional service to Krsna, he goes up only to brahma-sayujya but falls down. After millions and millions of years of keeping oneself away from the lila of the Lord, when one comes to Krsna consciousness, this period becomes insignificant, just like dreaming. Because he falls down from brahma-sayujya, he thinks that may be his origin, but he does not remember that before that even he was with Krsna”. – Australian conversation transcribed in BBT Report. Nectar of the Month, January 1982.

“. . . if he is properly guided, then he is very easily sent back to home, back to Godhead where from originally he fell down.” – Letter, January 20, 1971

“. . . we have also come down from Vaikuntha some millions and millions of years ago. Anadi karama-phale. Anadi means before the creation. . . The real desire is how to go to home, back to Godhead.” – Lecture on Bhagavad-gita, London, August 6, 1973

“. . . we may fall down from Vaikuntha at any moment . . . so even in the Vaikuntha, if I desire that ‘Why shall I serve Krsna? Why not become Krsna?’ I immediately fall down.” – Lecture in Honolulu, July 4, 1974 (personally attended by author)

PADA: These quotes and many more are not -- from the GBC?

PP: From What you say about GGM and what he said then it seems he was very much a humble servant of this lineage . You should not try to separate him from the Lineage. You are the new person and he was vaisnava from birth in very high class family .

PADA: OK that is fine, but in our lineage Srila Prabhupada says we came from Krishna's leela or sport, or from Vaikuntha etc. The Gaudiya Matha's God brother's lineage said that is wrong, we did not come from Vaikuntha or leela, and Srila Prabhupada said they do not know we were once with Krishna because are tinged with mayavada. I am promoting Srila Prabhupada's lineage and not others. You failed to address the above quotes and what they mean. ys pd
