PADA: The quotes about illicit sex are very clear, and I'm happy that at least some people are taking them to heart. I'm also using these types of quotes for my own benefit. The MAIN problem is: in ISKCON the leaders have often been very strict when dealing with the rank and file over illicit sex issues, while being extremely tolerant of their post-1977 "acharyas" who delve into illicit behaviors, including homosexual activities.
And this has created a vicious double standard for the whole society, which contaminates the role of sexual behavior for the whole society. For example, I was personally removed from ISKCON for complaining that Jayatirtha was engaged in illicit sex while posing as an acharya, and the gang of four gurus came to England to reinstate Jayatirtha and get rid of his detractors like me.
I had to leave, the worship of illicit sex had to stay. Yet, when some rank and file have these same problems, they are given the boot, as recently happened to a temple devotee in Vrndavana. He had some sort of an affair and he was made to leave ISKCON. This is generally called hypocrisy, and its making an unstable atmosphere which generates more of these problems than less. At the same time the worship of persons engaged in illicit sex will create all sorts of other spin-off problems, including contaminated marriages and so many other things.
And another part of my original complaint was, that we cannot have the worship of illicit sex being offered the ISKCON bhogha on the altars, this too has also never been resolved. In sum, illicit sex is a problem, agreed, whereas wholesale worship of illicit sex is being allowed, covered up and reinstated, this is not a healthy situation. Worship of illicit sex will create an unhealthy society and unhealthy relationships to sexual issues, its inevitable. ys pd
