Garuda Das's (Kaviraj?) Gita Re-write Imbroglio

PADA: Thanks HD, yes Garuda das (Kaviraja?) is an ally on the book changes issue. At the same time, he has made his own dubious Gita translations. This is a problem all over the place, people are writing their own "new age style" books, or worse their own versions of original Srila Prabhupada books, with dire results. Agreed.

We have also heard very little recently from our Purujit friends in Spain, their program has sputtered down to a trickle after they tried to make their own translations. Everyone down to almost the last man and woman complained to us about this attempt to re-write the books.

Right, I also heard that Garuda has taken a disciple / or disciples and he thinks he is another diksha guru aka Jesus who can absorb the sins of others. Well good luck with that project pardner, its not working too well for others, hee hee. Anyway you are right, he made one verse attempt, then wanted to rewrite it later, which means its full of mistakes and he is speculating. Srila Prabhupada says only a realized soul can make these translations and commentaries on the shastra, and he is right. ys pd

  1. Thanks ***** Dasi. Yes it is really a sad state of affairs when Garuda das, the supposedly best defender we have for original books, is writing his own versions of these same books. This is what happens when the mass or devotees acquiesce with these change-up artists, eventually it becomes a struggle to get back to the originals. He has made some sort attempt to keep the originals, which is good, but then sort of shoots himself in the foot by making his own edited program. The only good news is that there is now a lot of demand for the originals, so there is hope they will continue on somewhere and somehow until we get sufficiently strong enough to take better action to get the originals.

As for Purujit, yes most people have written him off totally, he has no idea what Srila Prabhupada wanted and intended and most people know that by now. He has dug his own hole and got stuck in it. A lot of people have sent me very negative comments about his program, some of these comments cannot be posted here due to our curse word avoiding policy. ys pd

  2. JN: Every acharya has translated vartma as path and anuvartante as "follow", i.e. "they follow my path". This joker decides that the direct meaning, which has been accepted by every acharya, just isn't good enough.
