Navadvip Parikrama (ISKCON Times)

Gaurahari Das (Update)

[PADA: I like this one, honest! Willaim Zodda aka Gaurahari dasa was at one time: A Tamal disciple; A ritvik devotee; A Narayana Maharaja devotee (until NM told his wife to leave him and he called NM a wife kidnapper?); Back to being a ritvik; Then being a sort of diksha guru with a couple of disciples -- or maybe not; Back to being a Rasika devotee; Then A promoter of Radhanath swami; Then a full blown born again Christian -- who said Vaishnavas are offenders and we better all read the Bible; Maybe now, back to being a Rasika devotee again, who dances to contemporary music?; OK maybe we got the order mixed up, who can say? And who knows what he was else in between?

I think there is some desire to love and serve Krishna in the mix here, somewhere, but this is apparently why -- its not a good idea to listen to too many various authorities, or as Srila Saraswati says "not too read too many (diverse siddhanta) books." A person's brain might become many branched, as the Gita says. Hee hee, no kidding!

Anyway, this is what happens when a person goes into the many branched zone, the only good news its, its looks harmless and sort of funny. We wish him well, but sad to say, there are a lot of half baked many branched people out there and we hope Krishna gives them some mercy for at least having Krishna as part of the mix of their consciousness -- somewhere.

At the same time, he is a full ton and a half better than say for example Jayapataka, who is like the poster child and Krishna's personal "Monkey on a Stick" warning about as to why we should not think we can absorb sins like Jesus. We cannot. Even Gaurahari is WAY better than that lot.

Good luck Gaurahari, you are on the road to Krishna --- sort of, ok maybe at least you are somewhere on one of the roads that leads to the road to Krishna. Hee hee! ys pd

Jvalamukhi's testimonial re: Radhanatha Swami

https://www.facebook.com/jahnavi.kopecka/videos/10155254625027269/

[PADA: How come Radhanath Swami was made an acharya by the GBC, after it was well known he was the second in command to Kirtanananda? And that Kirtanananda was implicated in being a sexual predator? And some former New Vrndavana people say Radhanath was involved in the assassination of Sulochana, if for no other reason that he was saying Kirtanananda is a pure devotee (and its offensive to complain about such souls). And worse, Radhanath buried the carcass of Kirtanananda in the holy dham, making an offense to all of the victims of ISKCON and especially the New Vrndavana regime's victims? And did not people notice that New Vrndavana was a big part of the $400,000,000 abuse lawsuit?

Did we forget to mention the FEDERAL MARSHALS raided New Vrndavana and found all sorts of crimes were going on? And as Jvalamukhi says herein, there is a lot more stuff than that ... !!!

And why were our children made to believe that Radhanath was an acharya by many of the leaders, parents and other adults? In any case, its good that people are waking up, albeit slow but sure. PADA would say, this is partly (or largely?) due to propaganda from these leaders, adults and often, the parents of the society.

Often, the leaders and parents lead the children off to the GBC's gurus; Or gave them off to the Gaudiya Matha's gurus; Or gave them off to other assorted authorities like the GBC's who are connected with the Radha Kunda babajis and in short, they did not give these children the full shelter of the pure devotee Srila Prabhupada.

Anyway, she says we should inspire others to speak out, and hopefully her video will do so. All glories to Srila Prabhupada, he will eventually re-emerge as the acharya of his own mission after the dust settles on all these issues. Good on ya Jvalamukhi dasi, you are a brave and sincere soul. You have more guts, courage and sincerity than 10,000 of the sycophant GBC's lap dog "kshatriyas" put together. Bravo! ys pd]

BV Narayana Maharaja: Brahmanas must be boycotted?

Hanging out with Tamal, founder of the illicit sex guru program.

Brahmanas should be avoided?

Srila Bhaktivedanta Narayana Goswami Maharaja on the subject of Ritvik.

"Fallen gurus are now becoming ritviks. You should do pranama to them from very far away. Don't mix with them, and always boycott them…." (July 30, 2000)

[PADA: OK wait a minute, where did all these fallen gurus come from? Narayana Maharaja was one of the persons who said Tamal's GBC's are diksha gurus (not ritviks), then they fell. He is the person who co-created the fallen diksha guru imbroglio. And! Why did Narayana Maharaja help Satsvarupa write the "Guru Reform Notebook," claiming that gurus deviate -- and then they have to be reformed? And why was NM giving "rasika" classes to these same people who were establishing that the parampara deviates and needs to be reformed? And why does NM think the GBC can "guru reform" an acharya in the first place?

Anyway! Suppose some of these fallen people NOW try to become more honest, and they want to try and become some sort of lesser category than diksha gurus, ok maybe "priests," and they will drop their false diksha guru title and -- we should not allow that? We should avoid them? That means -- they should not drop down to a more honest lower post, they should continue to cheat people that they are full scale diksha gurus, the program NM supported along with Tamal?

NM said we cannot designate these GBC people as ritviks, they have to keep the diksha guru title. That is what NM said all along, they cannot change their diksha guru designation to minor league priests. Why not? Why not encourage honesty?

Sridhara Maharaja also writes that acharyas sometimes "go mad" after money, women and followers, and Narayana Maharaja says Sridhara Maharaja is a great acharya -- because he thinks acharyas are maybe falling and debauchees? Shouldn't we boycott the people who say acharyas are perhaps mad fools -- who chase the skirts of women, take intoxicants, and sometimes fall into -- eating chicken salads? So NM says our folks have to be avoided because we say acharyas are pure, and we need to promote Sridhara Maharaja, because he says acharyas are maybe sexual predators and mad fools?

In sum, we should avoid brahmanas, who are presenting Srila Prabhupada as the acharya, and we should promote Sridhara Maharaja, because he says acharyas are many times mad fools and debauchees. Why should we promote the idea that acharyas are often fallen debauchees, and avoid the people who say the parampara is pure?

And! If they were all along only qualified to be priests at best, why should we not encourage them to step down from their fake diksha guru platform and take the level they are actually at, such as maybe a priest? The cheating must continue?

If they are cheating to be uttama gurus, that is fine, because NM has supported the GBC while they did that, but if they try to take a lower post, that is forbidden? Or? Sridhara Maharaja is correct, acharyas are falling? Or? Are we right, the people who fall are at best aspiring to be priests, they never were acharyas?

The cheating has to continue?

Why should we allow people to continue to cheat that they are diksha gurus? This makes no sense? Let them move down to their proper adhikara, why should we avoid them and attack them when they try to make a more honest situation? Anyway, this is what happened, Sridhara and Narayana Maharaja said that Tamal and his pals are diksha gurus, and they should not move down to a lesser level designations, and this created this atmosphere of cheating.]

"In our line there is guru, there is siksa guru, there is caitya guru, there is sravana guru, there is patha pradarsaka guru - so many gurus. Why go to these bogus ritvics? Be very far away from them. Be careful about them. We should be very careful about mayavadis, sahajiyas, and all nirvesesavadis…" (July 30, 2000)

[PADA: OK so now NM says that the brahmanas, aka the ritviks, cannot act as shiksha gurus. Krishna, on the other hand, says the brahmanas (ritviks) should preach to the other classes of the society. Why does Narayana Maharaja say that the brahmana / ritvik class of devotees are bogus -- at all?

Where does Krishna say, the brahmanas /  aka ritviks are a bogus class, avoid them? Sudama was a brahmana and Krishna was very friendly with him, even Krishna does not avoid the brahmanas, only NM says we should distance ourselves from the brahmana / ritviks? Where in shastra does it say we have to avoid the preachers of the Krishna religion i.e. the brahmanas? As soon as we see Sudama brahmana, we avoid him and run away -- and maybe call him an offender?

And Srila Prabhupada says moreover that is the duty of a brahmana / ritvik to preach to the conditioned souls. NM says, that is bogus, a brahmana cannot act as a shiksha guru, a patha pradarsaka guru etc., but that is the whole purpose of being a brahmana, to teach the society (and act as a shiksha guru). Does NM have any clue what is the actual duty of a brahmana?

A brahmana should not act as a shiksha guru?

That will stop the preaching wholesale!

How will the preaching go on if none of the priests can preach? On the other hand, NM supported the GBC's idea, less than brahmanas can be worshiped as uttama diksha gurus? So the less than brahmanas can pose as diksha gurus, but the actual brahmanas have to stop all their preaching, they cannot give any shiksha teaching to others. How will the Vaishnava society function if the preaching class is ordered to stop preaching?]

"At present, real gurus are very rare, and the number of fallen ritviks are now growing."

[PADA: But NM said the GBC's falling people are not ritviks, they are diksha gurus? Now he says, they were ritviks all along? No, NM said they cannot use the title of ritviks, he said these falling GBC people are diksha gurus, and he helped Tamal and SDG write up the Guru Reform program. There are no falling ritviks because they were designated as diksha gurus all along by NM and the GBC he supported.

What happened is, NM said that the GBC are diksha gurus, not ritviks, and so they started falling left, right and center, and the number of his fallen diksha gurus is growing. Right! So why did he say they are diksha gurus in the first place? A priest can fall down, a diksha guru does not? Anyway, where are all these fallen ritviks, he never says? No, NM said they are diksha gurus, then they fell, that is what happened here.]

They are doing bogus things, and you should not have any belief in them. Remain far away and careful to guard against these animal creatures. They don't know the meaning of guru-tattva. They were cheating before and now they want to cheat in this way, and therefore they are cheating themselves and others. Be very far away from them." (Apr 17, 2001)

[PADA: OK Narayana Maharaja is the person who supported Tamal, Satsvarupa, Indradyumna, Sivarama and all the rest of them as diksha gurus, and he was giving them rasika classes while they were propping up sexual predators as their acharyas. Now he says, this was all cheating. So, why was he cheating everyone by claiming these people are diksha gurus in the first place?

And if they are animals, why did he say these animals could be diksha gurus in the first place? And why does NM think the solution to his promoting Tamal and the false diksha gurus program is now to say, brahmanas are bogus and we should not have any brahmanas -- preaching on behalf of Krishna, giving shiksha? This makes no sense?

Anyway, the problems in the NM camp are growing, Prem Prayojana is being criticized for being a sahajiya because he is allegedly favorable to some of the babaji's preaching. He is also being attacked for being a fallen sannyasa, and NM apparently said only sannyasa could be his diksha successors, so Prem Prayojana is a target for the sannyasa clique, and we even heard there were death threats in their camp against him. Then we have their one sannyasa / diksha guru who is allegedly having an affair, and no one can dispute this because "his followers will beat you with sticks."

Meanwhile Prem got very sick, and how did you guess, some folks said he has "taken their karma" and this made him get sick. OK but he is not supposed to take their karma! Why didn't NM tell his clan these basic things? And one of their leaders is sort of giving diksha on behalf of NM, acting as a de facto ritvik, he understands the karma thing, but he does not know that NM is not a liberated person so he is not going to take the karma either. Meanwhile he is being attacked as a bogus ritvik, .... because he understands he cannot take karma. So anyone who understands a few basic ideas, is attacked as a fool.

And then again some NM folks are promoting other living gurus in India who are not even part of the NM program, so its sort of scattering. In any case, NM saying that brahmanas cannot act as shiksha gurus shows total ignorance of the Vedic principles, the brahmanas have A DUTY to act as shiksha gurus and preach to the innocent class. Why doesn't NM even understand the basics of the religion? Even the Christians know, the priest has to preach on behalf of Jesus, and give shiksha to others, even they know that is the duty of a priest more than NM does. Anyway, this shows how Srila Prabhupada was right when he said, do not listen to my God brothers, they will simply create confusion. ys pd]

Radha Madhava Das Rejects Radhanath Swami

Radha Madhava Dasa:

In 2007 I was one time riding in a car with Radhanath Swami. I was at the time his close disciple and figured I should take the opportunity to ask him important questions. My mother is a Srila Prabhupada disciple and when she found her favorite verse in Bhagavad-Gita had been changed, she approached Ravindra Swarupa the GBC where she was. He said "Oh yes, the GBC approached me to edit it. I didn't feel qualified so I gave it to Jayadvaita as he was the closest thing I knew to a fundamentalist and I figured he wouldn't change anything."

My mother Maralee Mrgaksi Ash was livid, "You did WHAT to our spiritual masters books?" - that was in 1996. In 2007 my brother-in-law was working as the copyrights officer for the BBTI - and would give their arguments from "BBT Edit" etc. on why the edits were bona fide. So hearing both sides of this debate - whether changes to Srila Prabhupada's books were bona fide or not - I thought to ask Radhanath Swami his opinion.

He saw that I was leaning more towards the "no-changes" position, and so he said that I should have a balanced perspective and hear from both sides - that Jayadvaita has a clean public record - intimating that his detractors may not - and that he trusted him. He said that the BBTI was trustworthy because they wouldn't change even reasonable things like "women are less intelligent" - Radhanath Swami was part of a proposal to change all instances of "women are less intelligent" to be more politically correct.

He said that in seeking to get his own biography published he was dealing with an editor from Penguin Publishing (a prominent publisher) and by reading his book she became vegetarian and started chanting Hare Krishna. Then someone gave her Srila Prabhupada's Bhagavad-Gita As It Is and she came across the part where it says "women are less intelligent" and she closed the book and told Radhanath Swami that "Your Guru is a sexist" and gave up the practices she had taken up.

Radhanath Swami then went on to say that he felt in his heart that Srila Prabhupada would change the way he said things so as not to put off "good quality people" like this woman. He said that things like "women are less intelligent" are temporary material considerations that could be said differently to attract more followers. And this was his evidence that the BBTI was trustworthy to not change Srila Prabhupada's books because they would not accept such a sound and reasonable change as he was suggesting.

I thought of my mother who when she first came across the "women are less intelligent" part in Nectar of Devotion, became so furious that she threw the book across the room - then she thought "that was silly - in the paragraph before that he said that we are not these bodies - so if I am upset that women are less intelligent, I'm thinking that I'm a woman, which is really less intelligent." So she picked up the book, kept reading and became an initiated disciple of Srila Prabhupada. That was the most intelligent thing to do.

So after this exchange with Radhanath Swami, I started losing faith in him as my spiritual master - because he didn't know what to do or what not to do - his motives were for fame and influence - he felt his own ideas superseded Srila Prabhupada's words - he felt he is better than Srila Prabhupada - and so had the nerve to propose editing his books to better suit his own agendas.

When I was living in the Bhakti Center in NYC I was told by the management that they actively don't display or distribute Srila Prabhupada's books as they offend people who then go away. First they distribute Radhanath Swami's books and later, once people are ready, they may introduce Srila Prabhupada's books with apologetics for the controversial things he says.

"A guru who does not know what to do and what not to do, but by mistake, by mistakenly I have accepted somebody as guru, he can be rejected. By rejecting him, you can accept an actual bona fide guru." - Srila Prabhupada lecture August 5th 1973

The true disciple changes their own life to fit the order of the spiritual master - a false disciple changes the order of the spiritual master to fit their own life.

Later on Radhanath Swami defended a child abuser who preyed upon my family - as well as himself was confirmed by victims I know, to have been a sexual abuser to them when they were children as well. That put a lot of things in perspective which fit my experience. When others heard my experience they have said that their experiences and suspicions were also confirmed.

Due to fear of social repercussion I didn't let on my experience, but now I'm not afraid to share my story and to renounce any connection with Radhanath Swami. I have reverted back to my birth name Radha Madhava Dasa. I pray that others may benefit from my sharing and avoid his presence "as much as milk touched by the lips of a serpent causes poisonous effect."

There is much more to my experience and anyone can message me for more information. Anyone who feels uncomfortable with this can talk with me or other former disciples and verify for themselves. It's nothing to be ashamed of - to have been cheated is not a fault - rather those who cheat others must carry the shame.

Distinguishing truth from illusion is devotional service, however inconvenient it may be. I felt compelled to share this today as it perfectly fits what Swarup Hebel prabhu just shared and a following comment with Radhanath Swami's photo someone posted.

---

Post by Swarup Hebel:

This is a rewrite of something I posted in the past:

Throughout the years I am noticing more and more an undercurrent of confusion, consternation and even criticism concerning some of the (so-called) controversial statements found in Srila Prabhupada's writings as well as in transcripts of classes and conversations. Let me say this about that.

The serious student of Krishna consciousness --- the genuine surrendered disciple or follower of Prabhupada -- is one who has reached a stage of feeling fed up with, disgusted and disillusioned with life in the material world. Sastra defines this as being materially exhausted. Such a person who is ready, willing and eager to render submissive aural reception will have no problem whatsoever with anything spoken or written by the authorized representative spiritual master who is disseminating knowledge of the absolute truth.

On the other hand the person who still loves the world and who continues to identify with the body may feel squeamish, offended, and bothered by certain statements about "delicate" issues. You'll hear those folks with their lukewarm faith saying:

"Oh, Prabhupada could not have meant that."
"It must be due to the culture he was coming from."
"We have to hide or change the words so they're palatable."
"This is not politically correct -- it will turn people off."
"Impossible! He couldn't have meant that. There's some mistake."

If you are looking for a warm fuzzy feeling and a philosophy that is politically correct and dripping with honey-combed sentiment then you're in the wrong shop, my friend. Try the market down the street.

Srila Prabhupada was not interested in being politically correct. He had no interest in watering down the truth or compromising. He could have set the bar low enough to attract large numbers of disciples and followers but he didn't do that. He set the standards very high and spoke the truth -- the absolute truth. If a person is not yet ready to accept it all that's alright. Take what you want and leave the rest but please don't cause a big uproar and turn his words into controversial discussions that go endlessly on and on.

Personally, I have been struggling for decades to grab onto that bar and I keep slipping ... falling on my face ... breaking every bone in my body. I rub chalk on my hands to get a firmer grip but I fall off again and again. So what shall I do? Should I lower the bar to make myself feel better? "Oh look -- I can do pull ups and chin ups. It's so easy." No! I don't want something cheap. I want the real thing. Let's keep it real and please let's not play fast and loose with the words spoken and written by His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada who came a long way and sacrificed everything fifty years ago to deliver the absolute truth, as it is.

[PADA: Its amazing that many people who have little or no respect for Srila Prabhupada or his books are propped up to the highest levels by the ISKCON GBC. Of course a devotee woman can be more intelligent than all these cracker jack acharyas like Radhanath. Many nice Prabhupadanuga women have rejected Radhanath and his changed books, they are more intelligent than he is. ys pd]

Narendra Modi Endorses Prabhupada's New Temple

Easter Prayer from Surabhi Dasi

May the Lord be merciful unto all during these most Holiest of days, to those who deny Him, to those who criticize, to those who are cheating and manipulating His sincere seekers of faith and spirituality, and to those whom have rejected Him due to the hurt and suffering they endured by those pretending to be saintly, may the Lord forgive and embrace all.

Dear Heavenly Father, I beg you to please open your arms to the world, please forgive all as we are all merely your children lost in darkness trying our best to find your hand.

Many have and are suffering by the hands of those pretending to be saintly. These persons are dressed in traditional saintly attire and are well versed in your holy doctrines, yet they use this position for evil intent. Many are lead astray due to flowery words, promises or even by fear mongering.

Many find themselves trapped in so called 'spiritual' institutions that promote misogyny, abuse, rape, stealing, lies, molestation, pedophilia, greed, blasphemous criticism of others and of others faiths and cheating the innocent. Dear Lord, please be merciful unto these persons, they are blinded by their own inner demons which are using them to hurt and destroy others.

Please dearest Lord, help them see the evil in their ways, help them understand the pain and hurt they have caused others and most importantly I beg You to forgive and embrace them too, for no matter how wicked their actions, their deepest desire is Your divine love and forgiveness.

Your love will break the shackles we all wear, please hear my prayer my Lord. I am nothing more than Your insignificant child begging that even if you do not spare my soul, please be merciful to all other.

Amen. Surabhi

Easter commemorates the resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is one of the most important of Christian festivals, and the one celebrated with the greatest joy. Without Easter there would be no Christianity. Without Jesus' suffering, his execution and subsequent resurrection there would be no Christianity, for however terrible the suffering was, it was part of God's plan for the salvation of humankind.

In Western Christianity, Easter marks the end of Lent, a period of fasting and penitence in preparation for Easter, which begins on Ash Wednesday and lasts forty days (not counting Sundays).

The week before Easter, known as Holy Week, is very special in the Christian tradition. The Sunday before Easter is Palm Sunday and the last three days before Easter are Maundy Thursday or Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Holy Saturday (sometimes referred to as Silent Saturday). Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday and Good Friday respectively commemorate Jesus' entry in Jerusalem, the Last Supper and the Crucifixion.

"Christ the Lord is risen to-day,"
Sons of men and angels say.
Raise your joys and triumphs high;
Sing, ye heavens, and earth reply.

Hope you all having an enjoyable blessed spiritual weekend filled with love and charitable offerings.

Poison Issue Summarized

Well sorry prabhu, (a) Srila Prabhupada says that someone is giving him poison; (b) everyone in the room agrees he is saying someone is giving him poison; (c) he says he has the symptoms of a person who is poisoned and the kavirajas and others agree; (d) they were whispering about poisoning him -- as has been confirmed by audio forensics -- and some of these whispers are heard even without the enhanced audio; (e) they hid these 1977 tapes for that reason; (f) Tamal told SDG that he was requested to give Srila Prabhupada something to make him disappear (poison) etc.

As for folks like Brahmananda saying there was no poison issue, the real problem is that for many years people like Brahmananda supported the bogus GBC's and their false appointed gurus and their false appointment claim, and he was greatest friends with guys like Satsvarupa. SDG was writing all these bogus GBC position papers, that in my opinion was the greater substantial manner in which Srila Prabhupada and his teachings were eliminated, he was essentially replaced by a pack of motivated fools.

I was protesting out of the gate in 1978, and I was told by a number of people how Brahmananda was supporting the appointed guru concoction and I saw his name associated with them in their documents for a number of years. He went into their camp and became a big defender of their guru claim. much to my peril, I could have been killed as well.

If they would kill his children like me, why not also kill the father, the pure devotee, or anyone else. And I think they would kill anyone to get their way, that is my opinion. Srila Prabhupada says, just like they killed Jesus, they may kill me also. He knew their mentality. I explain here how they hid the issue, and how Tamal, SDG and others claiming that conditioned souls are the successors to the acharya is another form of poisoning him herein.... ys pd

=====================

Right, for Brahmananda, Hansadutta, Rupanuga, Bhakti Caru and many others, to to say "I was right there and 11 gurus were appointed" has created havoc. YES. They were right there. Did they hear properly? NO.

On the other hand, NO, we were not right there, but we heard properly, no gurus will be appointed because that is the Gaudiya Matha's deviations which destroyed their mission. So we challenged right away, this guru appointment is bogus, and it is.

"Being there" does not automatically equal hearing properly, and we should all know this by now. The way out of speculation is to hear what was actually said by Srila Prabhupada, and that is what we are promoting. We got the tapes, the conversations, the letters, the will, and that is what we are running on, not the memories of people who did not listen properly in the the first place.

Gargamuni says now that we should all be ritviks, but Brahmananda was the 1978 seargent at arms for the false 11 guru's appointment, that means, they listened -- fine -- but only much later on, AFTER we began to present all these evidences, THEN they and others agreed LATER ON.

As Srila Prabhupada says mental concoction results from NOT HEARING properly, they got sucked into the bogus guru appointment, because they had not been hearing properly. Did they hear the poison issue properly either? Not likely. And if Brahmananda is correct, Srila Prabhupada died of a broken heart because the leaders could not wait for him to die, why did Brahmananda and co. promote the people who broke his heart (and killed him) as his guru successors? ys pd

Bhakti Vikas Maharaja on "The Cost of Silence"

Bhakti Vikas Maharaj Comments on the

'Cost of Silence'

BY: SANAKA RSI DAS (UK)

Hare Krsna Maharaj, Please accept my respectful obeisance; All Glories to Srila Prabhupada.

I have just listened to the lecture you gave in the Czech Republic on August 27, 2016 wherein you speak about child protection and critique "The Cost of Silence" video. What caught my attention was your lenient views on corporal punishment in general and more specifically, your endorsement of Bhaktividyapurna Maharaj and Indradyumna Maharaj's actions.

You go to great lengths to support Bhaktividyapurna Maharaj, but it appears that you are not very well acquainted with his case, nor the extent and gravity of his actions. This is something I have come across often in ISKCON, when certain devotees arbitrarily choose to endorse a known child abuser, without even having taken the trouble to read the case file of the offender they support. Which raises the question, "If you don't know the full extent of this person's actions, what exactly are you endorsing and supporting?"

You start your lecture by claiming that you do not wish to be an apologist, but then you go ahead and give an entire class wherein you try to excuse the behaviour of Indradyumna Swami and Bhaktividyapurna Maharaj. You highlight the accomplishments of Bhaktividyapurna Maharaj as if whatever degree of success he may have achieved somehow negates the children he has abused… It doesn't.

You claim that the only incidents involving Bhaktividyapurna Maharaj date back to 25-30 years ago, and that when you once visited the Mayapur Gurukula, Bhaktividyapurna did not occupy any position of relevance in the school, hence you argue that it is not fair to place the entire responsibility of the problems in the school on his shoulders.

If you read his entire case files, you will find that Bhaktividyapurna Maharaj has been personally investigated and sanctioned by the authorities several times. The first major investigation took place in 1990, the second in 1998, the third in 2007 and the last one in 2015. Each one of these investigations brought to light the negligent, inappropriate and abusive behaviour towards the children placed under his care.

The incidents you describe in your lecture date back to the late '80s and early '90s, and were scrutinized in the investigations that took place in 1990 and 1998. While it may well be that at the time of your visit, Bhaktividyapurna Maharaj did not occupy any position of relevance in the school, many of the incidents that were investigated in 1990 and 1998 took place while Maharaj was the principal of the Mayapur Gurukula, hence he was deemed accountable. At any rate, all teachers have a duty of care towards their students.

It is reported that several children approached Bhaktividyapurna Maharaj to pleading for his help and protection because they were being sexually abused, and he failed to protect them. He also personally beat children in a brutal fashion; some of his victims were bleeding after receiving his lashes and remained in bed for an entire week.

The 2007 investigation further reports the following incidents:

- That Bhaktividyapurna Maharaj was present while young girls were bathing naked.

- That a 16 year old girl was rubbing oil all over Bhaktividyapurna Maharaj's back because apparently he was experiencing some back pain.

- That Bhaktividyapurna Maharaj was rubbing chickpea paste on the body of young girls who were semi-naked, only wearing their underwear.

- That Bhaktividyapurna Maharaj spent several days and nights in the room of the 23 year old female principal of the girls school alone with her. This relationship is reported to have spanned over the course of many years (8-10).

- That this lady was sitting on Bhaktividyapurna's lap in front of other students.

- That Bhaktividyapurna Maharaj and this lady were seen indecently dressed and acting in a frivolous manner in her room. [AND SO ON ...]

These are excerpts from the 2007 investigation reports which can be viewed here. The 2015 investigation confirms many of these reports, which leads to the conclusion that Bhaktividyapurna Maharaj's abusive / inappropriate behaviour continued over many years.

Bhakti Vikas Maharaj, you also quote Bg 9.30, "api cet su-duracaro", and you say: "Do we want to edit this out of the Bhagavad-gita…" and… "is there some crime that is unforgivable?"" (Bhakti Vikash Maharaj's direct quotes are in italics)

You also speak about the story of Lord Brahma when he attempted to assault his own daughter, you explain how the other demigods did not banish Lord Brahma for his actions. I will assume that your implied message is that hence Bhaktividyapurna Maharaj should not be banished either.

I get the impression that often the essence of this verse is overlooked. I have heard many devotees quote Bg 9.30 to excuse unacceptable conduct. I don't believe this to be the intended teaching here.

In the purport to this very verse Srila Prabhupada explains further:

"On the other hand, one should not misunderstand that a devotee in transcendental devotional service can act in all kinds of abominable ways; this verse only refers to an accident due to the strong power of material connections... No one should take advantage of this verse and commit nonsense and think that he is still a devotee. If he does not improve in his character by devotional service, then it is to be understood that he is not a high devotee." (Bg 9-30 Purport)

With all due respect Maharaj, I don't believe it is your place to encourage the forgiveness of offences that were not perpetrated against you. I don't recall Mahaprabhu quoting Bg 9.30, telling Lord Nityananda to move on when Jagai and Madhai injured Him… On the contrary, he was ready to kill them until Nitai pleaded with Him to be forgiving. Do you see the difference?

We have 4 separate CPO investigations, and each of these investigations lists several instances of Bhaktividyapurna Maharaj's inappropriate behaviour, highlighting a pattern of abuse that spanned over three decades. It is a stretch at best to try and use Bg 9.30 to excuse or justify Bhaktividyapurna Maharaj's conduct. We have a clear case where this person has abused dozens of children and breached the regulations of his sannyasa ashram on many occasions. How do you make this fit into the category of "an accident"?

I agree that there is no such thing as a crime that is unforgivable, and I do not regard Bhaktividyapurna Maharaj's transgressions as unforgivable; I do however believe that it is reckless to allow a man with his history to have any involvement whatsoever in the education of children.

If you allow a person that has a track record of abusing power to continue occupying the same position you are not being forgiving, you are enabling abuse. You are doing a disservice to child protection, to Bhaktividyapurna Maharaj, and to society at large.

If you had two children and the first one had been abused by a teacher, would you also send your second child to this same man in the name of forgiveness? Quoting Bg 9.30, because, after all, everyone deserves a second chance? I hope not. You also state your views that it is advisable to use fear in the education of children, you say: "Fear is good", and that "preventing some degree of corporal punishment in the education of children is another form of child abuse".

My understanding is that raising children with fear is not conducive to developing healthy Krsna conscious devotees. On the contrary, we aspire for fearlessness in the shelter of the lotus feet of the Lord. Srila Prabhupada has gone to great lengths to explains that Krsna Consciousness IS NOT an artificial imposition. How exactly do you see fear as a desirable element in education? Your opinion that it is advisable to use corporal punishment in the education of children is opposed to the essence of Srila Prabhupada's instructions on education.

There are two more statements you made that I'd like analyse:

"To put sexual abuse with twisting the ear of a child in the same category is extremely unbalanced and unfair" and "Everyone knows that Indradyumna Swami likes kids and young girls and everything, but there has never been a case of his doing anything wrong… Let's be frank, it seems that he is attractive to young women, but there has never been any record of him engaging in any illicit activity".

There are a few things to consider here, first of all, these are straw man arguments. The video covers many different kinds of child abuse, but nowhere in the video is child sexual abuse described as being equal to pulling the ear of a child. What is unfair is for you to suggest otherwise.

Also, in the same audio clip where children complain about their ears being pulled, they tell of how the teacher shoved their head into the wall. You have selectively taken a statement out of context, misrepresented it, ridiculed it and then attacked it. Do you also regard shoving a child's head into a wall as part of your notion of acceptable corporal punishments?

The thing is that when corporal punishment was sanctioned in ISKCON Gurukulas, teachers sent children to hospitals, and when it was banned, they still sent children to hospitals.

One thing we can learn from the history of corporal punishment in ISKCON is that teachers cannot be trusted to administer it in a measured and controlled fashion. Hence, even if you are of the opinion that some degree of corporal punishment can be helpful at times, you need to take into account that we do not have self-controlled brahmanas as teachers. Rather, over the years we seem to have attracted an exceptional number of immature, sub-violent and wrathful individuals, who more often than not abused their position of authority to lash out and release their own anger and frustrations on defenseless children.

If you will encourage the use of corporal punishment you need to think long and hard whether the perceived advantages of using corporal punishments outweigh the potential risks and costs.

Similarly, please correct me if I misunderstood you, but I get your second statement to mean: "Indradyumna Swami has never been found guilty of abusing any children, hence it was inappropriate to include him in the video".

This is another misrepresentation. The video does not accuse Indradyumna Swami of having abused children. The video states that the nature of his interactions with children is inappropriate. Statistically the number of child abuse incidents perpetrated by adults who know the child and its family are significantly greater than the incidents perpetrated by strangers.

Here is a 40 minutes video of Indradyumna Swami interacting with children. What Maharaj is teaching them is that it is acceptable or even desirable for them to be touched by an adult the way he does, so long as their parents approve of the person.

As an authority, Maharaj is also setting an example for all the devotees that look up to him for guidance. Imagine what would happen if brahmacharis in temples around the world started to think, "Well, I also like children, Indradyumna Swami is doing it, hence it must be ok."

At least in western countries, the nature of his interactions with children is socially unacceptable. This can become a hindrance to his preaching efforts and to ISKCON's already troubled reputation. The argument you are making seems to be: "I agree that Indradyumna Swami's interactions with children are inappropriate, but since I don't have any evidence that he has ever been abusive, we should encourage him to continue because he is a great preacher".

ISKCON's history demonstrates that this careless approach brings little if any benefit and it effectively increases the vulnerability of the children. In the past this left our children wide open to the exploitation of criminals.

Another issue with this reasoning is that instead of being preventive, it is reactive. To encourage this mind-set is irresponsible and disrespectful of past victims. Why would you wait for the life of even one child to be destroyed before taking action? ISKCON's leaders have the duty to lead an exemplary life and set up preventive guidelines designed to offer children the greatest possible protection.

I suppose you will also agree that from the perspective of his sannyasa ashram, his interactions with women and young girls are unacceptable and a bad example for younger sannyasis and women alike. Indradyumna Swami and every parent have the responsibility to try and establish whether any perceived benefits of his interactions with children justify the potential risks.

I welcome your feedback on my observations. Should you find that some of your statements are inaccurate, I invite you to retract / correct them.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Yours in the service of Vaisnavas

[PADA: It does seem like BVKS supports the main bogus people in the GBC, such as Jayapataka, Hari Sauri and others, who created the mass molesting regime in the first place. The 2017 GBC report says the GBC may have to close their schools in Vrndavana and Mayapura due to lack of qualified people to manage these programs, and problems still persist in these schools -- apparently due to a chronic poor selection of teachers and managers, well duh, they are spending apparently hundreds of millions of rupees on lawsuits and not on getting proper administration personnel for their schools etc. And BVKS is a big supporter of the regime himself ... ys pd]

Sridhara Maharaja Another Bed Bug (Pushkar dasa)

The Bhaktivedanta Archives:

“Prabhupada was very protective of his ISKCON.”

Pushkar: In 1974 I was asked to do a painting of Srila Bhaktisiddhanta for the Krishna-Balaram temple but we didn't have any picture or photo to go by. I was sent to one of Prabhupada's God-brothers to get a reference from a book. I was with him for about an hour and one thing he kept reiterating was that I should go to Sridhar Maharaj because he was a living guru.

I thought, "Why is Prabhupada's God-brother a living guru and Prabhupada's not a living guru?" So I said to him, "Well, Prabhupada's a living guru." But he kept saying it. He must have said it seven or eight times in an hour, "You should go to Sridhar Maharaj. He is a living guru." Finally I got the book and went back to the temple where I told the leaders there, Bhavananda and Jayapataka what he said.

Later Bhavananda had gone up to see Prabhupada in Bombay and he mentioned this story. Prabhupada's response he said was immediate. He was very angry. His lip was quivering practically in anger, very disturbed and he said, "I am not there but you tell him for me that he is nothing but a bed bug."

Of course I don't think they did that but he said it, "Nothing but a bed bug. He has taken sannyas thirty years ago and he's done nothing but suck the blood of my guru maharaj. That is what bed bugs do." Prabhupada was very protective of his ISKCON. We didn't have the adhikar to say such things so it wasn't conveyed. Only Prabhupada could have conveyed that statement. —Pushkar

Appearance Sri Syamananda Prabhu 04-11-17

~ Appearance Day of Sri Syamananda Prabhu ~

Sri Syamananda Goswami tirobhava tithi [disappearance day]

Tuesday April 11, 2017 [Mayapura, West Bengal, Bharata Bhumi time]

compiled by Yasoda nandana dasa

Srila Prabhupada explains the unique position of Sri Syamananda Goswami.

Books : Sri Caitanya-caritamrta - 1975 Edition : Cc. Adi-lila : Adi 1: The Spiritual Masters : Adi 1.19 : PURPORT :Lord Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu explained this mode of devotional service in three stages, and therefore these worshipable Deities were installed in Vṛndāvana by different Gosvāmīs. They are very dear to the Gauḍīya Vaiṣṇavas there, who visit the temples at least once a day. Besides the temples of these three Deities, many other temples have been established in Vṛndāvana, such as the temple of Rādhā-Dāmodara of Jīva Gosvāmī, the temple of Śyāmasundara of Śyāmānanda Gosvāmī, the temple of Gokulānanda of Lokanātha Gosvāmī, and the temple of Rādhā-ramaṇa of Gopāla Bhaṭṭa Gosvāmī. There are seven principal temples over four hundred years old that are the most important of the five thousand temples now existing in Vṛndāvana

Books : Sri Caitanya-caritamrta - 1975 Edition : Cc. Adi-lila : Adi 7: Lord Caitanya in Five Features : Adi 7.45 : PURPORT :There are many Vaiṣṇava families in Bengal whose members, although not actually born brāhmaṇas, act as ācāryas by initiating disciples and offering the sacred thread as enjoined in the Vaiṣṇava tantras. For example, in the families of Ṭhākura Raghunandana Ācārya, Ṭhākura Kṛṣṇadāsa, Navanī Hoḍa and Rasikānanda-deva (a disciple of Śyāmānanda Prabhu), the sacred thread ceremony is performed, as it is for the caste Gosvāmīs, and this system has continued for the past three to four hundred years. Accepting disciples born in brāhmaṇa families, they are bona fide spiritual masters who have the facility to worship the śālagrāma-śilā, which is worshiped with the Deity. As of this writing, śālagrāma-śilā worship has not yet been introduced in our Kṛṣṇa consciousness movement, but soon it will be introduced in all our temples as an essential function of arcana-mārga (Deity worship).

Books : Sri Caitanya-caritamrta - 1975 Edition : Cc. Adi-lila : Adi 7: Lord Caitanya in Five Features : Adi 7.164 : PURPORT :When Rūpa Gosvāmī and Sanātana Gosvāmī went to Vṛndāvana, there was not a single temple, but by their preaching they were gradually able to construct various temples. Sanātana Gosvāmī constructed the Madana-mohana temple, and Rūpa Gosvāmī constructed the Govindajī temple. Similarly, their nephew Jīva Gosvāmī constructed the Rādhā-Dāmodara temple, Śrī Gopāla Bhaṭṭa Gosvāmī constructed the Rādhā-ramaṇa temple, Śrī Lokanātha Gosvāmī constructed the Gokulānanda temple, and Śyāmānanda Gosvāmī constructed the Śyāmasundara temple.

In this way, many temples were gradually constructed. For preaching, construction of temples is also necessary. The Gosvāmīs not only engaged in writing books but also constructed temples because both are needed for preaching work. Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu wanted the cult of His saṅkīrtana movement to spread all over the world. Now that the International Society for Krishna Consciousness has taken up this task of preaching the cult of Lord Caitanya, its members should not only construct temples in every town and village of the globe but also distribute books that have already been written and further increase the number of books. Both distribution of books and construction of temples must continue side by side in parallel lines.

Books : Sri Caitanya-caritamrta - 1975 Edition : Cc. Madhya-lila : Madhya 1: The Later Pastimes of Lord Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu : Madhya 1.97 : PURPORT :This Kṣīra-curī Gopinātha is situated about five miles away from the Bāleśvara station on the Northeastern Railway, formerly known as the Bengal Māyāpura Railway. This station is situated a few miles away from the famous Kargapura junction station. Sometimes the charge of the temple was given to Śyāmasundara Adhikārī from Gopīvallabhapura, which lies on the border of the district of Medinīpura. Śyāmasundara Adhikārī was a descendant of Rasikānanda Murāri, the chief disciple of Śyāmānanda Gosvāmī.

Books : Sri Caitanya-caritamrta - 1975 Edition : Cc. Madhya-lila : Madhya 4: Sri Madhavendra Puri's Devotional Service : Madhya 4.12 : PURPORT : There is a railway station named Baleśvara, and five miles to the west is the village of Remuṇā. The temple of Kṣīra-corā-gopīnātha still exists in this village, and within the temple the samādhi tomb of Rasikānanda Prabhu, the chief disciple of Śyāmānanda Gosvāmī, can still be found.

Books : Sri Caitanya-caritamrta - 1975 Edition : Cc. Madhya-lila : Madhya 8: Talks Between Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu and Ramananda Raya : Madhya 8.128 : PURPORT : na sudrah bhagavad-bhaktas te 'pi bhagavatottamah sarva-varnesu te sudra ye na bhakta janardane :One who is actually advanced in spiritual knowledge of Kṛṣṇa is never a śūdra, even though he may have been born in a śūdra family. However, even if a vipra, or brāhmaṇa, is very expert in the six brahminical activities (paṭhana, pāṭhana, yajana, yājana, dāna, pratigraha) and is also well versed in the Vedic hymns, he cannot become a spiritual master unless he is a Vaiṣṇava.

But if one is born in the family of caṇḍālas yet is well versed in Kṛṣṇa consciousness, he can become a guru. These are the śāstric injunctions, and strictly following these injunctions, Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu, as a gṛhastha named Śrī Viśvambhara, was initiated by a sannyāsī-guru named Īśvara Purī. Similarly, Śrī Nityānanda Prabhu was initiated by Mādhavendra Purī, a sannyāsī. According to others, however, He was initiated by Lakṣmīpati Tīrtha. Advaita Ācārya, although a gṛhastha, was initiated by Mādhavendra Purī, and Śrī Rasikānanda, although born in a brāhmaṇa family, was initiated by Śrī Śyāmānanda Prabhu, who was not born in a caste brāhmaṇa family. There are many instances in which a born brāhmaṇa took initiation from a person who was not born in a brāhmaṇa family. The brahminical symptoms are explained in Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam (7.11.35), wherein it is stated

yasya yal-lakṣaṇaṁ proktaṁ
puṁso varṇābhivyañjakam
yad anyatrāpi dṛśyeta
tat tenaiva vinirdiśet
If a person is born in a śūdra family but has all the qualities of a spiritual master, he should be accepted not only as a brāhmaṇa but as a qualified spiritual master also. This is also the instruction of Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu. Śrīla Bhaktisiddhānta Sarasvatī Ṭhākura therefore introduced the sacred thread ceremony for all Vaiṣṇavas according to the rules and regulations.

Books : Sri Caitanya-caritamrta - 1975 Edition : Cc. Madhya-lila : Madhya 24: The Sixty-One Explanations of the Atmarama Verse : Madhya 24.330 : PURPORT : samo damas tapah saucam ksantir arjavam eva ca jnanam vijnanam astikyam brahma-karma svabhava-jam :Unless one is qualified with all these attributes, he cannot be accepted as a brāhmaṇa. It is not a question of simply taking birth in a brāhmaṇa family. In this regard, Śrīla Bhaktisiddhānta Sarasvatī Ṭhākura remarks that Narottama dāsa Ṭhākura and Śyāmānanda Gosvāmī, although not born in brāhmaṇa families, are accepted as bona fide spiritual masters because they were brāhmaṇas by qualification. Personalities like Śrī Gaṅgā-nārāyaṇa, Rāmakṛṣṇa and many others, who were actually born in brāhmaṇa families, accepted Narottama dāsa Ṭhākura and Śyāmānanda Gosvāmī as their spiritual masters.

Books : Sri Caitanya-caritamrta - 1975 Edition : Cc. Antya-lila : Antya 5: How Pradyumna Misra Received Instructions from Ramananda Raya : Antya 5.88 : PURPORT :To inundate the three worlds with nectar is the purpose of the pastimes of Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu. How this could be possible was exhibited by Śrīla Raghunātha Gosvāmī and later by Ṭhākura Narottama dāsa and Śyāmānanda Gosvāmī, who all represented the mercy of Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu. Now that same mercy is overflooding the entire world through the Kṛṣṇa consciousness movement. The present Kṛṣṇa consciousness movement is nondifferent from the pastimes performed by Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu when He was personally present, for the same principles are being followed and the same actions performed without fail.

Lectures : General Lectures : Sunday Feast Lecture -- London, July 25, 1976 : 760725LE.LON :Prabhupāda: Somebody fanning, and water also. (chants maṅgalacaraṇa prayers) So śrī-caitanya-mano-'bhiṣṭam. Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu's ambition or mission. Śrī-caitanya-mahāprabhu mano 'bhiṣṭaṁ sthāpitaṁ yena bhū-tale. His ambition was propagated or established by Śrīla Rūpa Gosvāmī, Sanātana Gosvāmī. They were ministers in charge of the then Pathan government in Bengal and very learned scholar in Urdu and Sanskrit, but after meeting Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu at Rāmakeli village in the district of Maldah in Bengal, North Bengal... That was supposed to be the capital of Nawab Hussain Shah. So then they joined to preach this saṅkīrtana movement or Kṛṣṇa consciousness movement.

So their mission was to establish the Rādhā-Govinda Mandir, as many as possible. They first started in Vṛndāvana, Madana-mohana temple. Most Indians present here, they know. There are... [break] ...temples in Vṛndāvana. There are five thousand temples in one small city of fifty thousand population, but the most important because they were established by the Gosvāmīs. Rūpa, Sanātana, Bhaṭṭa Raghunātha, Śrī Jīva, Gopāla Bhaṭṭa, Dāsa Raghunātha, the Six Gosvāmīs, direct disciple of Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu. The Sanātana Gosvāmī established first the Madana-mohana temple. Then Rūpa Gosvāmī established Govindajī's temple. Then Jīva Gosvāmī established Rādhā-Dāmodara temple, then... [break] ...Gosvāmī established Rādhā-Madana-mohana temple. Śyāmānanda Gosvāmī, he established Śyāmasundara temple. These are important temples.
In Vrindavan, Krishna Das studied the Vaishnava scriptures under Sri Jiva Goswami, who was the leading scholar of the sampradaya. Krishna das very carefully began to serve Jiva Gosvami as well as study the literatures of the Gosvamis. Srinivasa Acarya and Narottama dasa Thakura also came to Sri Jiva at this time to study under him. Thus Krishna das had the opportunity to meet them.

Krishna das requested Srila Jiva Gosvami for a special service. Sri Jiva instructed him to sweep the forest grove of Sevakunja everyday. From that day he began to carry out this service with great pleasure. He felt that his life had become successful.
One day, Krishna das was sweeping the Rasa-mandala in Vrindavan, absorbed in ecstatic trance. Suddenly, by Radharani’s transcendental mercy, he found her ankle bracelet lying on the ground. In his excitement, he touched the ankle bracelet to his forehead, where it left a mark. It is known as nupura tilaka. While in Vrindavan, Krishna das was given the name Shyamananda because he brought great joy to Shyamasundar.

Jiva Goswami sent Srinivas Acharya, Narottama Das Thakur and Shyamananda back to Bengal with the Vaishnava scriptures. But the books were stolen by the dacoit king. There Srinivasa Acarya prabhu remained behind to recover the books while Narottama continued on towards Kheturi and Shyamananda proceeded to Ambika Kalna. Arriving there, Syamananda paid his obeisances to his guru, and Sri Hrday Caitanya Prabhu embraced him and inquired about the well being of the gosvamis of Vrindavana.
Syamananda served the lotus feet of his guru in great happiness and in this way passed his days. At this time most of the devotees of Lord Caitanya in Orissa had all left the planet. Thus the preaching of Mahaprabhu’s teachings had all but come to a halt. Hrdaya Caitanya Prabhu considered this a very serious problem and finally instructed Syamananda Prabhu to go there to carry on the preaching of Mahaprabhu’s mission.

Syamananda set out for Orissa. After entering Orissa he first went to his birth place at Dharenda Bahadurpur. From there he came to Dandeshwar, where his father, Sri Krishna Mandal, had previously resided. By the auspicious arrival of Syamananda Prabhu in Utkala the teachings of Mahaprabhu revived. On the banks of the Suvarna Rekha River lived one pious and devoted landholder by the name Sri Acyuta deva. His only son was called Rasik. From his very childhood Rasik was very devoted to Lord Krishna. As he gradually attained the appropriate, age his father engaged some panditas to see to his education. However he didn’t have much regard for material knowledge. He had already ascertained that the greatest goal in life is devotion to Lord Hari.

Rasik became anxious to take shelter at the lotus feet of a bonafide spiritual master. One day as he was sitting alone, contemplating on this subject, when he heard a divine voice: “Rasik! Don’t be in anxiety anymore. Very soon a very great personality of the name Syamananda will arrive here. Just take shelter of his lotus feet.”
Hearing this, Rasika was encouraged and took to continuously waiting and watching for the arrival of Prabhu Syamananda. After a few days Shyamananda prabhu, accompanied by his disciples, came to the village of Rohini. Syamananda prabhu initiated Rasika. Many people of Rohini also became disciples of Syamananda prabhu.

From here Sri Syamananda Prabhu went to Sri Nrsimhapur, where many atheists lived. But when Syamananda stayed a few days, these atheists got the chance to hear his necterian talks, which melted their hard hearts in love for Krishna. Thus, in this place also, he gained many disciples.Day by day the glories of Syamananda spread throughout Utkaladesa. From Nrsimhapur he came to Gopiballabhpur. Here again, many well to do people were attracted to his lotus feet and so took shelter there.

The people here especially requested him to install the Sri Vigraha of Radha-Krishna. Thus, a temple for the deity was constructed. The greatness of Syamananda became known throughout all of Orissa and the worship of Sri Gaura-Nityananda was inaugurated in many, many places. Shyamananda’s disciples have established five principle seats in the towns of Dharenda, Bahadurapura, Rayani, Gopiballabhapura, and Nrisinghap.

The Mula Rama Story (Iskcon times)
