They Became What They Hated? 11 03

DD: I think that the movement’s children are especially aware of perceived hypocrisy. Highfalutin philosophy about “love of God” being spouted - but so much neglect, indifference, judgement and maltreatment. There’s a wonderful article coming out in the next ISKCON Communications Journal that spells out the problems that religious movements have when they fail to successfully inculcate their worldview and values in the next generation.

Religious people preaching love but filled with hate in their hearts.

PADA: Yep. A person who is friends with me, and he likes Krishna, but who cannot participate in ISKCON under any circumstances told me: "it seems most devotees joined ISKCON to become free of mundane religion. And they wanted to make a religion -- free of false posturing leaders -- and oppressive and concocted dogma.

"But then -- they became a hundred times worse than regular mundane religions. Some of them became the very false posturing leaders they criticized all the time. Others became the leader's dogmatic and fanatical sycophant enforcers -- same type thing that they criticized all the time.

"In short, they became far worse -- than the false religions that they claimed they wanted to escape from in the first place. They went full speed -- backwards." But yeah, as usual with all natural and man made calamities, the children suffer the most because they have no means of escape. They are at the mercy of the situation for better or worse. ys pd

NH: Completely.

DA: Over the years Iskon has used this contrast - corrupt church that betrayed the message - new aggregative and free spiritual movement - attracting many pseudo researchers who in the chaos of fashionable spiritual proposals were attracted by novelty, purity, ethnicity ..... now the attractive game is similar .... yoga center, vegan restaurant, bhakti lounge, twelve steps of liberation, fake new age, progressive revaluations vs orthodoxy and Hindutva culture, ...... the usual dirty business of institutionalized, bureaucratized religions , loaded with money to distribute and favors to obtain ...... the same dynamics that in the first years of Christianity brought divisions, schisms, complicity with power ..... history, although different, repeats itself.

PADA: Yep. When the GBC started to preach in 1980 that the real Jayatirtha is performing pure devotional service, and the fallen Jayatirtha we see manifest here is the maya Jayatirtha -- just like Mother Sita has her real and maya form, I knew that they had fallen into a giant pit of quick sand -- and they were now going to wiggle and struggle -- which places them further down into the hole. No one is allowed to compare fallen souls to Mother Sita without serious malefic reactions, and we have seen these reactions manifesting for them and for their society ever since.

They need to go back to all their previous apa-siddhanta and begin to rectify and apologize all their previous history of bogus statements, or be held accountable for all of this in the higher courts of the Supreme. At the same time, it is our duty to inform people of Krishna's actual standards and ideals, and to rectify things as much as we are able. The real society that worships the real Mother Sita always exists on the plane of transcendence, because these are eternal principles. And we are either part of the real eternal society, or the false materially contaminated one, but Mother Sita is not part of anything false at any time, eternally, and neither are any of her sincere worshipers. ys pd

PADA: All of them are implicated:

"He who gives permission, he who kills the animal, he who sells the slaughtered animal, he who cooks the animal, he who administers distribution of the foodstuff, and at last he who eats such cooked animal food are all murderers, and all of them are liable to be punished by the laws of nature. No one can create a living being despite all advancement of material science, and therefore no one has the right to kill a living being by one's independent whims."

“Putana is the slayer of all infants. The baby, when he or she comes out of the mother’s womb, falls at once into the hands of the pseudo-teachers of religion. These teachers are successful in forestalling the attempts of the good preceptor whose help is never sought by the atheists of this world at the baptisms of their babies. This is ensured by the arrangements of all established churches of the world. They have been successful only in supplying watchful Putanas for effecting the spiritual destruction of persons from the moment of their birth with the cooperation of their worldly parents.

No human contrivance can prevent these Putanas from obtaining possession of the pulpits. This is due to the general prevalence of atheistic disposition in the people of this world.

The church that has the best chance of survival in this damned world is that of atheism under the convenient guise of theism. The churches have always proved the staunchest upholders of the grossest form of worldliness from which even the worst of non-ecclesiastical criminals are found to recoil.”

FREE WRITE JOURNAL #266

October 13, 2023

Satsvarupa Maharaja’s Weekly Health Report (as of October 13)

Hari Hari! . . . .

This week was another mixed bag. Unfortunately, the Prednisone taper only reduced the headaches by half instead of the expected complete relief. At least the rebound cycle with Excedrin is stopped. Satsvarupa Maharaja is taking it very sparingly. The number of headaches, although reduced, seemed to be in direct relation to not taking enough rest breaks, which slows the overall progress.

At the end of the day, he gets more headaches, but we get more books. Volume Five of the Journal series is taking shape by Srila Prabhupada’s formula — little drops of water wear away the stone. One may ask, “Why another book — is it all worth it?”

Actually, the transcendental math is quite good. Our experience is that every book has a place in somebody’s heart somewhere in the world. Someone, somewhere, is being brought closer to Srila Prabhupada and Krsna. That is the impetus that drives H.H. Satsvarupa dasa Goswami.

Hare Krsna,

Your respectful servant,

Baladeva Vidyabhusana dasa

March 19

12:10 A.M.

Is there any deep desire to improve the yajna? Yes, some. Then please acknowledge you have come here for this. There may be some mental inconvenience, thinking, “I’m not in a temple right now,” but there are many advantages for extra japa in this retreat. We read how Madhavendra Puri, in a contrite mood, left the Remuna temple and went to chant his japa in the marketplace. Srila Prabhupada writes, “This chanting can be executed anywhere, either inside or outside the temple.” The Gosvamis chanted under trees. And don’t forget the importance of chanting and the fact that yours needs work—people are looking to you to do something about it.

Okay, today’s a big day. Let me put down the pen and pick up the beads—and put the mind on the Names.

2:05 A.M.

Chanted thirteen rounds. Don’t get agitated and depressed over your lack of attention and devotion in japa. Be grateful for what attachment you do have and capitalize on that. Build up. You watch yourself merely counting—the minutes and seconds per round, the number of rounds, the time of day . . . the progress that any worker feels as he shovels his way or she types her way or he reads his way through a designated amount of work. Think of piece workers who get credit for so many items sewn. Any worker with his eye on the clock, waiting for the coffee break, the lunch hour, the five o’clock whistle …

I don’t want to fake my actual attitude. I mean, I shouldn’t be overly dramatic about my disappointment. I’m not that upset about it. It’s a long-standing fact that I’m not ecstatic when I chant, I don’t experience that Krsna and Krsna’s Name are nondifferent. Yet I chant every day. I feel good about fulfilling that obligation.

But we accept more as matter of fact, that we chant with no taste.

PADA: SDG also says, the more I chant the drier it gets. And -- i have to battle constantly with doubts that Krishna is a myth. And this is the GBC's acharya?

“When, O when will that day be mine, when my offenses ceasing, taste for the Name increasing—when in my heart will Your mercy shine?”

When I read those lines, I think he’s describing me. But it’s no big deal. It’s like the way I accept my somewhat crippled left ankle or my headache syndrome. I live within those limits and I don’t unnecessarily lament. If I can walk for an hour a day, that’s fine. I don’t expect to walk more than that. If I can go one or two weeks without clusters of headaches, that’s wonderful—and I try to get as much done as I can within that no-headache zone. But when the pressure starts coming again, I live with it. I have no other choice. The loveless, inattentive chanting is another part of my life and conditioning.

PADA: Loveless chanting? Seriously. Well yeah, if your main objective in life is to have Krishna's devotees banned, beaten, molested, sued and killed, then you have no love for the Lord. Self evident. What you love is to see others suffer, be abused, and die, so you can sit in a big pompous seat and have people waving a camara fan at you for a few years, and that is called asura mentality.

Sins on the Strength

Committing sins on the strength of chanting is a grievous offense, the worst abuse. I think I’m free of this condemnation.

PADA: There is nothing more sinful than to have Krishna's devotees banned, beaten, molested, sued and shot to death, as your program has been doing all along since 1978. Chanting is not going to fix your reactions from these sins, it is actually making your sins worse, because committing sins while chanting is another offense in itself.

Even if I do not chant in suddha-nama, I must have faith in everything stated
about the glories of Nama Prabhu. They will work on me as long as I accept them in truth.

PADA: Yes, it is stated in shastra that the people who oppress Vaishnavas, and force children to worship pedophiles as their gurus and so on -- will dwell always in the darkest and lowest hells, and they will be sent back there once they leave here. Having constant headaches is just a reminder that you are doing the wrong thing, but instead of stopping doing the wrong thing, he takes psychotropic medications to cover the reactions.

Prabhupada: Those who take Indian philosophy and scripture as mythological are not at all intelligent. They have been described in the Bhagavad-gita as "sinful'', "rascals'', "lowest of mankind'', "bereft of all knowledge'', and "atheistic''. >>> Ref. VedaBase => Letter to: Sri Tikandas J. Batra -- Mayapur 26 January, 1976

PADA: Yep, we need to worship homosexuals, pedophiles and
drunks as God's messiahs.
Says that everywhere in shastra.
Ummm, where?
