Where Did the Children Go? / Institutional Psychosis (Advaita das) 02 22

That is the Question of the Day 

PADA: Most devotees still cannot comprehend why there are hardly any second generation or even third generation children -- now in ISKCON. The reason should be obvious, the children were not properly cared for or given shelter. And the elite and opulent GBC gurus were and still are the main people sheltered and cared for.

And there was [according to some victims] allegedly 2,000 abuse cases, and not hardly any were ever reported to the authorities -- "To save the mother church." Prabhupadanug EU's friend knew every kid in his school was mistreated, and he did not report any of it to the authority or even the parents.

And then -- when children were taking their lives, and we helped them with a lawsuit, many parents were very upset with me that we took on that issue. And Krishna Kanta (IRM) told me that we should not take on the issue because -- we will lose money and buildings. I think that is a good example of what many people believed then -- and still believe even to now.

"Don't confront the children mistreatment issue, it will destroy the institution." OK but if you lose the children wholesale, the institution is finished anyway. And that is why it is said, "a childless society is a dying one."

And then Mathura Pati types agreed with the institutionalist idea, suppress the child abuse issue, and he is still fighting with me that I should not have tried to save the children from suicides etc. using many parents and the IRM idea -- "to save the buildings." OK these folks saved the buildings, not the children, and the result is, the children are now gone.

The predictable result? The buildings are now empty, save for some Hindus who show up on Sunday for Hindu Fest. There was no shelter for these children previously, and there is none now. So it is sad, at the same time, a predictable outcome. And now they have created an empty shell, they won! Won what?

Anyway, hopefully the next generations will learn from all this, and we can re-establish some sort of re-energized ISKCON eventually. In the meantime we will continue to promote the history of all this, with the hope that history will not repeat. And we will pick up a lost refugee survivor here and there and try to give them some hope and direction.

Unfortunately, since most devotees are in denial about all this, and some of them still defend the mother ship -- which sank a long time ago -- we have to expose this in other venues such as public media exposes. But what else can be done? Krishna fulfills all desires. And when people wholesale want to suppress the truth, even to the peril of the institution's children -- and thus imperil the whole institution in the process, He allows that. And He did in this case. Advaita makes some interesting comments in this regard.

The Movement or the Institution

Part 4 – Institutional Psychosis Accept the Authorised Path of Perfection or Deviate with the Institution.

If one looks again at HDG’s books you will see that Srila Prabhupada never crossed the line of equating the KC movement of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu (SCM) with the ISKCON Institution. He always presents them as the whole Movement and the Institutional part.

Most devotees will not take the issue of separation of the Institution from the Movement seriously due to years of Institutional miss-guidance. However this definition is as fundamental to our Movement as the separation of the body from the soul is to our philosophy.

In either case if one does not have the correct understanding his perspective is perverted and his advancement is checked. This false definition has been a pivotal issue that has been perpetuated to acquire undeserved authority over the members of the Movement. 

To the point that the prospect of leaving the Institution (and supposedly the Movement) has stopped multitudes of devotees from exposing the crimes and into tolerating horrible treatment, thinking it is better than leaving the Movement and Srila Prabhupada’s service and shelter.

If you leave the Institution you are not leaving the Movement. It is truly Institutional psychosis to think that outside of the Institution there is no link to Srila Prabhupada or support from Krsna. Srila Prabhupada has never neglected a disciple, just as Sri Krsna has never abandoned a surrendered soul. The institution however does it all the time.

As devotees we are instructed to be attached to Srila Prabhupada as we are actually engaged in His Lila as the empowered part of SCM’s Lila and we are required to act as such to deserve the status of sincere disciples. But the attachment propensity has been misplaced onto an unauthorised Institution that is offensive to Srila Prabhupada.

Many have no idea how serious the coming condemnation of the deviates will be, even considering that the Lord will temper the results upon one that has rendered even a little favourable service. But if the Institution is only paying lip-service to Srila Prabhupada’s instructions and continues to go further down the path of deviation under the false leaders, this denial and lack of detachment will not save anyone.

For many it is far too late for reform as that opportunity has been wasted on false leaders and their followers for decades without remorse or reform on their part. This cannot end well for devotees with Institutional psychosis. Like it or not. Krsna is not going to save what Srila Prabhupada wants destroyed.

However, we are seeing that there is a class of sincere devotees that need to exit the Institution to protect their devotional creeper and follow their conscience. Some of the foolish collaborators may get clemency for they were driven by ignorance not personal gain but everyone must come to the realisation that this Institution is on a crash course with the results of their own deviations.

There are only 2 options: One method is a concentrated Institution of dependent devotees and the other method is a distributed society of independent communities strictly following the Spiritual Master. A version of re-institutionalisation is not a viable option.

In any case the period for optional adjustment of one’s position is rapidly coming to a close. TO OFFEND THE SPIRITUAL MASTER IS VERY DANGEROUS FOR ANY DISCIPLE WHETHER IT IS A SMALL OR GRANDIOUS OFFENSE. Srila Prabhupada sited the bank robber and the person stealing one apple as the same class of criminal, thief. The same applies here to offenders. Justice will be delivered to all regardless of what level of service or offenses one is at. 

The point is fast approaching when the option to change ones affiliation will truly close upon us. It has come to the point that for this Movement to survive the condemned Institution must be abandoned and destroyed. So our (the sincere disciples) remaining time must be employed as a transition period for the survival of one’s devotional creeper and the Movement.

It is regrettable that those self-sufficient farms have been neglected because so many devotees are lacking resources now to change their situation quickly. They could greatly serve us now as Srila Prabhupada envisioned.

(So now many must shelter in place while WW III passes by so the remaining sincere disciples can then reconnect and organise to survive the next event. That event Srila Prabhupada described as “The day when all the tall buildings on the planet fall down”).

There are many events we need to prepare to survive, so the Movement can survive within us. Moving on without the Institution means that our honest preaching will then restart the expansion, free from many of the impediments we currently face with so many deviate groups obscuring the authorised path forward.

We need to have faith that Srila Prabhupada is in our hearts and in His books to give us all guidance and support. He has left us every instruction necessary. After all these years of practicing to be fully surrendered, this is the time to get free from the false support of the Institution that has actually been causing the devotees to doubt that we have His full support and empowerment, if we just follow.

We were never meant to get attached to the Institution. We were to be engaged in the expansion of the Movement of SCM; That Movement exists to chant the Mahamantra (sankirtana) and instruct everyone we meet in the Vedic knowledge (distribute books) and freely distribute Krsna Prasadam. This will attract those potential devotees imbedded throughout the human society to accept Srila Prabhupada as the empowered spiritual master. 

Do not fear the karmi association; for it is actually full of opportunities to bring the innocent to real spiritual life.

We do not need to, nor should we, defer to the Institution any longer. We must act as advanced disciples and take independent responsibility. Without accepting that HDG wants the Institution destroyed, the devotees that embrace a false option, plunges themselves into a disempowered condition, where the actual path forward escapes them and they are unable to contribute in any meaningful way. We are divine beings reawakening to our pure consciousness state of empowered devotional service through the instructions of the empowered Spiritual Master Srila Prabhupada.

We are never alone. Krsna is within, Lord Chaitanya has given us His guarantee of protection and Srila Prabhupada says this is how the Movement can expand by our making new students and training them to the point of qualified to become His direct disciples.

Only when the Institutional mentality is removed will the path forward prevail and the Movement be saved. One that condones the deviate Institution or thinks that it can be reformed will not please Srila Prabhupada.

Just follow the Ritvik method He used and wants us to continue to use. Because this is what HDG has laid out for His true followers. Make the whole world into His disciples. The devotees who are spread out across the planet are to bring new devotees into groups capable of establishing self-sufficient communities(VAD) devoted to Srila Prabhupada, as the foundation of a new long-term agrarian based human society doing everything for the Spiritual Master and Krsna. 

We are to change every town and village. The responsibility is yours as a servant of the true Spiritual Master, in return for being saved from the material conception of life. With His assured guidance we can confidently be engaged in this glorious service. Not just lip service or impossible reform.

We all know that the problems start when you don’t follow the path laid out by the Spiritual Master but if we follow, those in the reinvigorated Movement and many other innocent souls will all be benefited. Most importantly Srila Prabhupada will be very pleased with our service.
