Envious and Wicked Persons

bhāla karte pāri nā, manda karte pāri, ekhana ki dibi ta’ bal?

"I cannot do any good, but I can harm you. Now tell me, what will you give me in return for this"? There is a proverb in Sanskrit, asakto ’ham gṛharambhe sakto ’ham grha-bhanjane — "I am so incapable that I cannot begin the work of building a house, but I am especially expert in turning even a big palace into dust." 

[PADA: Wow pilgrims! Srila Prabhupada left us with ISKCON in 1977, a big palace filled with what he said are thousands of "happy faced devotees." And in short order, the GBC turned his nice palace into a miserable empty shell, a palace full of dust. OK a few Hindus turn up on Sunday to place a tax deduction check in the cash donations box. Meanwhile, the harinama, book distribution, making Western devotees, training up devotees etc. -- is all but halted universally across the society.

And they left ISKCON with no small amount of abandoned, banned, exiled, removed, fried, toasted, discouraged, upset, broken down, dispirited and alienated people, including many of the society's children. OK most of the society's devotees and most of their children. Whole thing became a ghost town, even according to Lokanath swami in 1988.

Of course, even some so-called Prabhupadanugas will attack PADA due to the same enviousness motivation. Same thing, they do not bother to make a superior effort, such as their own better managed blog, or even any blog at all. Or make any better anything. 

It is all about making things turn into dust. And the short and simple explanation is, they are envious and wicked people, just as Srila Bhaktisiddhanta explains herein. They are good at wrecking the works of others, not so good at building their own constructive works.]

This is the character of envious and wicked persons. People of low nature are capable of spoiling the work of others, but are unable to do any good for anyone. A rat can easily spoil many invaluable books, clothes, or stocks of grains, but cannot produce any of these.

[PADA: Oh no, the higher nature people can make nice things, like books, clothes, stocks of grains etc., but beware -- the lower nature "rat's consciousness" type people can destroy all their good work. Includes, the GBC ruining Srila Prabhupada's books with their editing process. The GBC's rats ate up and exploited the good works of their guru, simply stated.]

As a result of great fortune, the seed of sincere faith in God and his devotees can sprout in the heart of a living entity. Even after the performance of hundreds of births of renunciation and austerities, one cannot attain even a particle of faith. 

But we often see that such faith can arise in the heart of a living being simply by the good wishes of a devotee. By even a momentary criticism of guru and the vaisnavas, envious and wicked rascals can uproot the creeper of devotion from the heart of persons who possess weak faith. 

[PADA: Yikes! The sincere people can make some progress towards God, but if they are suddenly victimized by the guru aparadha crowd, they can have their devotional creeper uprooted and destroyed. And that explains why thousands and thousands of people left ISKCON, having their devotional creeper uprooted by the guru aparadha offenders. 

Of course, the victims are also partly to blame, for possessing weak faith. As soon as the GBC announced that we have to worship their illicit sex and drugs guru's program, everyone should have stood up and protested. Instead, most of the victims argued with me, we need to help the guru offenders GBCs promote their worship of illicit sex and drugs acharyas. In sum, the victims were influenced by the offenders, i.e. they were weak in their faith.] 

However, they are unable to create even a semblance of devotion to guru and the vaiṣṇavas in the hearts of others. Such people, who are in the mode of ignorance, try to analyze the character of devotees and the Lord by their empiric knowledge, false logic, and useless arguments. 

Acting in their wicked, cowardly, or malicious way, they cunningly say, “I cannot offer any good to you, but can only offer you harm. Now tell me, what you will give me in return?” If while not doing any beneficial activity they could only remain neutral, then eventually nothing harmful would happen. 

However, it is māyā’s trick that no one can remain impartial in this world. Either one will do good or one will do bad. Those who cannot do good will surely do bad. After committing harm to others and destroying something good, such people will then claim to deserve a reward!"

[PADA: Yep. Many devotees told me -- and still tell me -- they are going to remain neutral, but herein we find -- that is not possible. One has to choose good or evil, because one will overtake the other eventually. 

So all of the people who "remained neutral" simply allowed their society to be -- eaten up by the rats. And then the temples because empty; the harinama was almost declared dead; the books were changed; the children were mass molested; funds meant to feed the children were siphoned off to pay for the opulent lifestyles of a few elites -- and the children were left with insufficient food etc.; there has been terrible mass media coverage of all the scandals and murders; the society was sued for $400,000,000 for mass child abuse and declared bankrupted, and so on. 

The rats won the battle by default, because they were allowed to eat up the society almost unchecked. And that is the result of supposedly remaining neutral, the bad guys win. And that is Maya's trick. This is a wonderful explanation of the whole post-1977 history of ISKCON. ys pd]
