Who Will Replace Praghosa (UK GBC)?

The Hare Krishna Project

*Election NOT Selection: Call for changes to be made to the way the next GBC for the UK is chosen*

We're pleased to launch our new campaign today - 'Election NOT Selection'.

We're calling on ISKCON UK's National Council to change the way it chooses the country's next GBC. After the sudden resignation this week of HG Praghosa Prabhu from the post of GBC (after serving for 20 years) we're asking for greater transparency, openness and inclusion in choosing his successor.

The GBC for ISKCON in the UK also chairs the National Council (made up of Temple Presidents and Project Managers), and is overall responsible for the £12 million budget of the ISKCON UK Ltd charity.

This isn't a position that should be chosen by a select few, but instead a UK-wide election should be held, balloting the thousands of ISKCON devotees in the country - allowing them all to have a vote!

Want to have a vote and a say in who the next GBC for ISKCON in the UK should be? SUPPORT OUR CAMPAIGN:

- Write to your Temple President demanding a vote

- Message us and we'll send you the email addresses of all members of the ISKCON UK National Council

[PADA: The problem is = The GBC does not want us peons to have a say, nor do they want to be transparent, nor do they want accountability, nor do they want hardly any changes from the existing status quo. That being said, the natives are getting more restless and they cannot hold on to power artificially -- forever.

This is another sign of more lost -- credibility and authority -- on the GBC's part. The Hare Krishna Project folks also spoke heavily about the child abuse situation and they really are not inclined to compromise with that agenda, or its cover ups and defenders. They want to see real changes -- and so do a lot of other folks.

Let us see who is the next guy they can select / elect / (maybe coerce?) into the GBC post. And let us put that guy under a microscope to see what his story is. At this stage the GBC guys probably know they are under a lot of scrutiny, so they are having a hard time finding someone who has not been part of the past corruption. Good luck! ys pd]
