Portland Bhakti Center / Srila Bhaktivinode Thakur Quotes 10 / 01

Justin King

For my bhakti / kirtan friends:

When I closed Portland Bhakti Center last year, it was because the place never really manifested in the direction I’d wanted. I had opened PBC with the sole intent of creating an unaffiliated and non-institutional space where people could delve into the ancient bhakti tradition and rediscover their spiritual identities in a comfortable and non-judgemental environment that ‘meets you where you are’, but it kinda grew into a sort of hippy dippy pseudo - ‘spiritual’ hodgepodge (not that there’s anything inherently wrong with that … it’s just not my thing) and I wasn’t really getting the financial help from the congregation needed to sustain the project, resulting in me being the only one keeping it going (although our wonderful volunteers did some pretty amazing service).

I’m excited to announce that I’ll be renting out a vintage ballroom (pictured below) every Thursday starting in November and hosting a short Bhagavad-Gita class followed by kirtan and vegan prasadam potluck! Again, this is not affiliated with any particular institution.

We will be Prabhupada-focused.

Justin King: Honored to be inaugurated as a member of the Board of Directors of Sacred Vedic Arts today! This project, founded by my guru Syamarani dasi, is very dear and inspiring to me and I’m excited to help it grow.

Lots of big things coming up for SVA!

PADA: Thanks bhakta J for pointing out that Portland Bhakti center will not really be Prabhupada centered, it will be Narayan Maharaja centered.

Narayan Maharaja was in Mayapur helping the Gaudiya Matha people who were criticizing Srila Prahbupada in 1971. I was there when this was going on. Madhava is the person who poked his fingers in Srila Prabhupada's face shouting that he should not use the title of Prabhupada. And they threw our prasad on the ground saying they cannot eat mleccha food.

Yep, the people who dislike our guru -- are the people whom NM hangs out with and promotes. Of course, we can eat food offered to deviants, as NM supported with the GBC. And BV Puri confirmed Narayan Maharaja was there in 1971, encouraging Madhava Maharaja to attack us. And NM says Madhava is a bona fide acharya. Because he is attacking and really threatening our acharya?

And Srila Prabhupada said after that odious incident with Madhava (we thought it was going to come to us fist fighting with these God brothers at the time) -- "My God brothers [OK Madhava] might try to harm me, or eliminate me."

Did I forget to mention that NM was hanging out promoting GBC's gurus like Tamal, Giriraja, Indradyumna, Sivarama, Satsvarupa, BB Govinda and other big leader of the deviant guru's mass molester program? Then NM invited me to Fullerton to discuss all this. He left me sitting outside his room all day, from 8 am to 5:30 pm, then sneaked off the property not seeing me for one minute. After that he went to hug Kirtanananda, whom he had plenty of time to be with.

Narayan Maharaja was in Texas supporting Tamal when I was in Texas getting Tamal sued for $400,000,000 for mass child abuse. And NM was attacking us as "bogus ritviks" for our challeging Tamal's pedophile worship process. Tamal used to lecture "my two favorite people are Srila Narayana Maharaja and Srila Bhavananda Maharaja." Of course. (A) Bhavananda, the pedophile guru regime's co-founding father -- and (B) the pedophile guru regime's chief rasika guru / advisor / cheer leader / position paper writer / high priest -- NM.

Yep. The Andy Warhol, Jimmy Savile, Rasputin, Pol Pot, Stalin -- disciples club -- and their biggest cheer leaders, advocates, apologists, promoters, shiksha gurus, rasika gurus and BFF forever friends. The main supporting architects of Tamal's anal reconstructive surgery epidemic messiahs club are folks like --  Narayan Maharaja -- they are always our favorites.

Did we forget to mention that the main suspect in Srila Prabhupada's poison complaint is NM's rasika / Andy Warhol-pada lover pal -- Tamal? And when we came out with the poison complaint our worst critic was, how did you guess -- NM, who was defending Tamal. That is why he refused to see me when I went to his ashram, I had the "poison" tape with me. He did not want to hear that his BFF Tamal is implicated in this ... and that makes him a supporter of Judas.

Sorry to have to point this out but, the best buds of Tamal's homosexual and pedophile guru's program are not the friends of Krishna and His real devotees. Nor are they even the friends of normal, moral sane Joe six pack mundane people. The good news is that Jadurani's program is like all the other NM programs, it is very small and has a small number of blind follower groupies.

After NM departed, their program here in SF and in LA turned into a pot smoking process and it deteriorated rapidly. And then their "gurus" started to argue and fight among themselves, just as happened with the GBC false messiahs. At least one of their messiahs is alleged to have attraction to young males, hey, just like the Tamal program NM supported previously.

And one of their NM sannyasas said he could not go and sort out one of their gurus who was having an affair because "his disciples will attack me with violence." Sound like residents of Vaikntha to me! Of course NM has said many other goofy and apa-siddhanta things all along. For starters, he thinks acharyas appoint fallen people as their successors. But even the mundane hamburger eating Joe six pack people know that these GBC people are not God's successors. They only fooled the similarly foolish. Of course NM had said all of them are monkeys, then he said 11 of these monkeys are gurus.

At the same time, we wish Jadurani and her sisyas well, and we hope they advance. But if she thinks she is another Jesus and she can absorb sins, just like NM thought that his BFF homosexuals and pedophiles messiah's process can be another bunch of Jesus and absorb sins, she will be sent to a very dark place when she leaves here. That has nothing to do with me well wishing or not, it is in the hands of the higher authority.

Sri Amnaya Sutra

Chapter Seven - Jiva-gati-prakarana - Movements of the Spirit Souls

Sutra 49
asat-sanga-tyagena tat-phalodayah
asat-of the impious; sanga-association; tyagena-by renunciation; tat-of that; phalaresult; udayah-arisal.

By renouncing the association of the impious one attains that result.

Commentary by Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura

In the Taittiriya Upanishad it is said:

yany asmakam sucaritani tani tvayopasyani no itarani.

"One should associate with they who act properly and avoid all others."

In the Katha Upanishad (1.2.9) it is said:

naisha tarkena matir apaneya
proktanyenaiva su-jnanaya preshtha

"O dear one, the Supreme cannot be understood by material logic or by the words of one who is not enlightened."

In Srimad-Bhagavatam (3.31.34) it is said:
teshv asanteshu mudheshu
khanditatma-sva-sadhushu
sangam na kuryac chocyeshu
yoshit-krida-mrigeshu ca

"One should not associate with a coarse fool who is bereft of the knowledge of selfrealization and who is no more than a dancing dog in the hands of a woman."*

In the Hari-bhakti-sudhodaya it is said:

yasya yat-sangatih pumso
manivat syat sa tad-gunah
sakula-dvaitato dhiman
sva-yuthyan eva samsrayet

"The association of devotees is like a precious jewel. Therefore a wise man avoids the non-devotees and takes shelter of the Lord's devotees."

In Sri Caitanya-caritamrita (Madhya 22.87) it is said:

asat-sanga tyaga ei vaishnava acara
stri-sangi eka asadhu krishnabhakta ara

"A Vaishnava should always avoid the association of ordinary people. Common people are very much materially attached, especially to women. Vaishnavas should also avoid the company of those who are not devotees of Lord Krishna."*

Sutra 50

sat-sangac chastrabhidehya-vijnasa
sat-of devotees; sangat-by the association; sastra-of the scriptures; abhidehya-the menaing; vijnasa-the desire to know.

By associating with devotees one attains the desire to understand the scriptures.

Commentary by Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura

In the Kena Upanishad it is said:

upanishadam bho bruhi.
"Please narrate the Upanishads to me."

In Srimad-Bhagavatam (11.2.29-30) it is said:

durlabho manusho deho
dehinam kshana-bhangurah
tatrapi durlabham manye
vaikuntha-priya-darsanam

"For the conditioned souls the human body is most difficult to achieve, and it can be lost at any moment. But I think that even those who have achieved human life rarely gain the association of pure devotees, who are dear to the Lord of Vaikuntha.***

ata atyantikam kshemam
pricchamo bhavato 'nagha
samsare 'smin kshanardho 'pi
sat-sanga-sevadhir nrinam

"Therefore, O completely sinless ones, I ask you to kindly tell me what the supreme good is. After all, even half a moment's association with pure devotees within this world of birth and death is a priceless treasure for any man."
In Sri Caitanya-caritamrita (Madhya 22.14) it is said:

bhramite bhramite yadi sadhu vaidya paya
tanra upadesa mantre pisaci palaya

"Wandering and wandering throughout the universe, the conditioned soul may by chance get the association of a devotee physician, whose instructions and hymns make the witch of external energy flee."
- Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura

PADA: Jayapataka people complained that PADA has cost ISKCON $100,000,000 in legal fees for helping various lawsuits. OK, and now they are starting another giant lawsuit. Did it ever occur to them that all these lawsuits are the result of bad karma? ys pd

  1. RMD: The Narayan Maharaja people are just about as fanatical as the GBC guru's people. They think there is nothing wrong with his supporting the GBC gurus.

I was very unhappy when Narayan Maharaja said ... the children are "just getting their karma." Then all of the GBC people started to quote him. This is just an excuse for bad behavior ... and it makes the victims feel even worse. Narayan Maharaja's helping the GBC gurus is the bad karma ... he should not help bad people and then blame his victims for bad karma.

PADA: Yes, NM has a weird sense of justice. NM thinks he can drive a car into a crowd and kill a dozen people -- and injure many others -- then he will just tell the judge -- these people had "bad karma."

He is taking no responsibility for his aiding and abetting the abusers regime. NM has no authority to support a regime that dishes out "bad karma" to anyone else, and to support the people who are hunting people like me to -- kill us.

NM and his followers are trying to justify supporting abuse, and even poisoners of pure devotees, but there is no justification. It is inexcusable.

Yep, I agree -- people like Jadurani now think it is ok to say it is authorized to drive a car into a crowd and kill people -- and then blame the victims bad karma -- because she has gone into the association of people who preach that this is fine.

The NM folks do not even understand the basic mechanics of karma, so much so, even an ordinary hamburger eating person knows that it is wrong to support child molesting regimes -- and then blame the children's karma. That is offensive and wrong, but the NM people cannot see that because they are blind fanatics. ys pd
