PROPOSAL :
Whereas, during a discussion in the ICC meeting attended by 160 leaders of
ISKCON India, the leaders expressed extreme remorse, regret, frustration, and anger at the recent actions of the GBC with regard to Lokanath Swami.
Whereas, the case of Lokanath Swami was dealt with previously by the GBC
during 1993, 2011, and 2017. No new evidence in this case has been introduced, as was recently confirmed by the GBC Chairman,
Whereas, the present actions of the GBC with regard to Lokanath Swami violate the principle of double jeopardy, and are therefore blatantly unfair,
Therefore, the ICC resolves:
1. The case of Lokanath Swami be declared permanently closed forthwith by the GBC. It is our ardent desire that this be done by July 20, 2021, the 72 nd Vyasa puja of Lokanath Swami. Doing so would rectify the grave injustice that has been done to Maharaj by the recent actions of the GBC.
2. The idea of a panel constituted by the GBC to review the case be immediately dropped by the GBC.
No leader from ISKCON India will participate in the GBC’s proposed panel to
review the case of Lokanath Swami.
3. If the GBC does not agree to these remedial measures, then ISKCON India leaders may adopt a spirit of non-cooperation with the GBC, (just as Mahaprabhu did, when he organized the protest of the actions of the Chand Kazi), until the situation is rectified.
4. ISKCON India will under no circumstances accept any decision or advice of the ICPO in regards to the case of Lokanath Swami.
5. An apology be tendered by the GBC EC for imposing sanctions on Lokanath Swami with only five hours notice, without consideration of his fifty years of service to ISKCON. Thus giving Lokanath Swami, de facto, no time to respond before the sanctions were imposed. These recent actions of the GBC EC and GBC body against Lokanath Swami have caused extreme distress to his more than five thousand disciples and numerous well wishers.
6. The ICC feels that the NALC’s open letter to the devotee community regarding Lokanath Swami, that contains glaring inconsistencies, is regrettably highly offensive to Lokanath Maharaj.
We were informed by one of the India GBC members, that the GBC Chairman had
counseled the NALC not to publish the offending letter. We request NALC to retract the letter, and offer an apology to Lokanath Swami for their public attack on him.
