Hare Krishna men were detained in the Transcarpathian region of Ukraine.

Employees of the territorial center for recruitment and social support (analogous to the military registration and enlistment office), with the support of the police, detained Hare Krishna men near Mukachevo, Transcarpathian region in western Ukraine. This was reported by the Strana publication, publishing a video of the arrest, which took place next to a local sanatorium, on its Telegram channel.
According to him, several dozen military commissars and police officers prevented the Hare Krishna procession, taking the men out one by one. The detainees sang songs in the military registration and enlistment office building, the publication noted. Their number is not specified.

On May 18, a scandalous law on new mobilization rules came into force in Ukraine, which will allow hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians to be drafted into the army. Since February 2022, general mobilization has been announced and repeatedly extended in the country, while the authorities are doing everything possible to prevent men of military age from evading service.
They (with a few exceptions) are prohibited from traveling abroad, and those who have the right to a deferment must present a package of documents confirming this. Subpoenas are issued in government agencies, on the streets, in shopping centers and transport. According to Ukrainian media, men are trying by all means to evade mobilization, not leaving their homes for months, trying to leave the country using fake certificates or crossing the border illegally.
Video recordings of cases of forced mobilization and conflicts between citizens and military commissars are regularly distributed on Ukrainian social networks. Cases of beatings of men in military registration and enlistment offices periodically emerge.
PADA: Very sad. People are coming out to chant Hare Krishna, and they are evidently being recruited into the army, maybe to be sent off to war. Devotees in Russia are telling me a similar thing -- they are also keeping a low profile these days. Both Russia and Ukraine are trying to recruit people to go off to war, and unfortunately devotees are going to be involved. The karma of being placed at birth into these countries is not easy to avoid.
In any case, they should just continue to chant Krishna's names wherever they go -- "Krishna has put me into this difficult situation, I have to deal with it, but let me not forget my connection to the Lord no matter what." Just because we are trying to become Krishna's devotees -- does not always mean we can be immediately free of the material world's trials and troubles.
The GBC management has also been giving mixed messages -- and some of them are supporting one side or the other -- and it is making it harder to manage the situation. Srila Prabhupada says -- the current world leaders and governments are creating "a slaughterhouse civilization" and -- he is not kidding.
The material nature is overpowering, cruel and relentless. Our only hope is -- to take full shelter of the Supreme Being and beg for His mercy, whether we are in USA, Ukraine, Russia, the heavenly or hellish planets, or anywhere else in this material universe.

ReplyDeleteIn the afternoon, a TCC group of about 60 military men with assault rifles arrived at the Ukrainian festival GBC ISKCON and began to take men into cars. A crowd of women surrounded them and began to curse them in every possible way. It seems that they managed to fight off the men, but perhaps they managed to capture someone. However, after this, at six in the evening, announcements appeared in the festival chat that all men liable for military service with documents were asked to urgently come to the pandal.
According to one version, TCC employees were invited by the new GBC and guru for Ukraine, Achyuta Priya. Some accuse him of collaborating with the Ukrainian authorities and special services. Achyuta Priya can thus get rid of unwanted people by handing them over to the military, and then they will go to the front, to be slaughtered. Achyuta Priya saves his own people, so he saved Gaurapurnima, his right hand, from being summoned when they wanted to take him away and were already dragging him away! People also remembered an old story when a devotee who criticized Acyuta Priya died mysteriously. Many know him as a tyrant in Ukraine.
