J DASI: Visited an amazing senior devotee in the intensive care unit at the hospital today who's story increased my faith in the Lord's protection of His devotees out of causeless mercy.
Jivanuga Prabhuji had his skull smashed in by a random attacker about one month ago. He woke up in the hospital and doesn't remember much of the altercation. He did nothing to his recollection to provoke the attack.
When I first saw him, I saw his caved-in head and realized it's a miracle he's still in his body. After expressing my sympathies, we got to talking about karma, and Prabhu is sure he did something to his assailant in a past life. His belief is that the reaction of his sinful activity would have been much worse if he hadn't taken shelter of Krishna. In fact, he sees what will be a long road of recovery as an opportunity to improve his sadhana, which he said wasn't good.
I gave him my personal beads overnight until I come back tomorrow with another mala. He also appreciated the prasadam and books I brought for him as he had none to read. He asked me to make a little alter for him beside his bed with pictures of Radha and Krishna.
He will have an artificial skull plate screwed to his skull to cover his brain which is currently only protected by skin. Please send your prayers to the Lord for Jivanuga Prabhuji for his recovery and increased remembrance of Krishna throughout this traumatic situation.
He is a very kind and incredibly brave soul!
