ISKCON Mayapur Managers Statement

Dear Devotees,

Please accept our humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

Mayapur Management is committed to provide a safe and spiritually uplifting environment for all the members of ISKCON Mayapur Community and we recognise that the protection of minors is one of our key responsibilities.

We express our solidarity to every member of the community who is affected by the events involving Bhakti Vidya Purna Swami and we pray to Sri Sri Radha Madhava for Their compassion & mercy upon every person.

We will dutifully follow the strictures imposed by ISKCON Central Office for Child Protection on Bhakti Vidya Purna Swami. We also sincerely urge you to help our fellow devotees to be happy and healthy in their service to Srila Prabhupada.

JM: Who is this written by? Who is the nebulous and undefined 'Mayapur Management?' Like, very specifically, what are their names?

JM: Oh wow. The usual suspects. Those are the same people who have created the system whereby the abuse occurred!

Subekshana! What a joke. He was heavily involved in the gurukulas there. He played a significant role in covering up the abuse and stopping others from speaking out. BV is fund-raiser for TOVP, an office renowned for so much embezzlement, it's laughable. 

Hrdaya hasn't got any balls. Never once protected any children in Mayapur. Did nothing to help any poor child. And JPS has overseen the den of thieves for decades. He made the bloody place so that BVP could abuse kids at his leisure, FOR DECADES. That's why they love him, as they all exploit the land and people for money, under his jurisdiction.

It's a criminal enterprise, nothing more or less.

Please tell me... Where and when, EVEN ONE SINGLE TIME, did ANY of these men speak up to defend children from being raped or abused in Mayapur? Tell em go go furk themselves and shove that letter up their asses. They are just trying to protect their own position, that's all. Cowards, the lot.

BBD: It's called damage control. Any fool can write on paper that "they now stand for this-and-that".

What actually and ONLY MAYBE would count is that each and one of them come on zoom with D Dasa & S Dasi and present their stand verbally. So that we can also see their faces, their body language, and do some reading of our own. They can say WHATEVER THEY WANT. Perhaps we can hire some kind of a Detector of Lies also which is usually used on convicted criminals when facing cops and anwsering questions. Yeah, I probably see it as only that way viable. Other scrambled textual shanannigans should be completely neglected.

IL: The interesting thing is that they found a subtle way of asking the community to have mercy on this abuser. At least this is how I interpret these words:

BB: When I listened to the excellent Bhakti Kids Sangha vodcast today, Mother Abhideya Devi Dasi stated the purpose was to discuss the culture of abuse in Iskcon, and then made a point to emphasize that she really didn't want to commit any aparadha. That surprised me a little, and got me thinking about what is the scriptural definition of Vaishnava aparadha, and why would someone discussing ISKCON's failure to protect children and the case of BVP, worry that they might be perceived as aparadhis.

In reading through all of Srila Prabhupada's Vani quotes, it's plain to see that Prabhupada defines aparadha in rather broad terms, most often defining it as a personal offense, sometimes as fault finding or criticizing a pure devotee, and occasionally as blasphemy. Prabhupada most often uses the term "pure devotee" when he uses the word aparadha. According to Sri Jiva Goswami's Bhakti Sandarbha, Vaishnava aparadha is defined by the six degrading acts; (1) killing, (2) blaspheming, (3) being envious, or hate of, (4) not paying sufficient respect to (5) being unduly angry (6) not receiving a Vaishnava properly or being happy to do so.

So, I think it's easy to understand blasphemy - the act of as speaking or acting with contempt for or acting defiantly irreverent towards a sacred person, place or thing, and the six degrading acts mentioned by Jiva Goswami, but it certainly seems what is poorly understood is when criticism and fault finding are either necessary and constructive or are baseless fault finding.

Srila Bhaktivinode's Vaishnava Ninda defines the motive behind that criticism as the determining factor, and if the critique has bad motive it is aparadha and a good motive then is not aparadha. Bhaktivinode Thakur also states that how you can differentiate that the critique has good motive, is by whether the critical person is desirous of the welfare of the person they are criticizing, or because they desire the welfare of the world, or desire one's own "spiritual" welfare.

So in closing, it is pretty clear that certainly not all fault finding or critique is aparadha, but one should examine one's motives to make sure they are indeed "good".

PADA: Yep, those of us who complain about the molesting are "vaishnava aparadhis," and we are banned, beaten, chased with bats, sued, and -- some dissenters lives are taken. Get them aparadhis! How is that working out for the children in that society?
