Help Gurudas Avoid Homelessness (Fundme)

 https://www.gofundme.com/f/gurudas?

PADA: A concerned devotee was just telling me recently that more and more devotees are going to become homeless -- as the virus drags down the economy. And as it looks now, the USA is still not taking the virus seriously by making a Federally managed masks, tests and contact tracing process. That means containing the virus problem is still being slow pedalled, as it has been from the start.

And as we speak -- funds to ramp up these Federally funded virus containment efforts are evidently not being approved -- as the government fights over this issue. Meanwhile, many devotees were using the $600 Federal unemployment addition as their economic lifeline, and that looks like its being torpedoed. And that is, if they even got approved for unemployment in the first place etc.

Anyway!

Right after we posted that piece about potential homeless devotees, we get a message that Gurudas is one of the devotees who might end up as homeless. Of course Gurudas has been perhaps neutral, but not really encouraging, to our Prabhupadanuga idea. And he has spent a lot of time hanging out with folks like Radhanath and so forth. Why aren't the GBC elites helping him?

At the same time Gurudas is quite elderly and not in very good physical condition. So this seems like another example of the ISKCON leaders not taking care of the vulnerable citizens. That is very unfortunate.

Gurudas is always friendly towards us, and that is nice, but he has pretty much hitched his horse to the GBC's guru wagon. He was trying to make some sort of "devotee care program" for elderly devotees working with some ISKCON folks, but that was never sufficiently backed by the ISKCON leaders. So we ended up where we are now, the ship is sinking and there are not enough life boats to go around.

In any event -- we wish Gurudas well. He did do a lot of service at the beginning of ISKCON and he and his then wife (now deceased) Jamuna devi were friends when we first joined. I was a big fan of Jamuna's kirtans. So now we are where we are, another case of ISKCON not managing to care for the citizens.

If you can help Gurudas some way or other, that would be good. Its very sad that many of these "old timers" are not being looked after by the society. And its another reason the leaders will have to face Yamaraja for not providing for the vulnerable citizens, which is the duty of society's leaders. ys pd
