Urban Kisaan Brings "Vertical Farming" to India

PADA: I once travelled to Northern California -- north of Mt. Shasta -- where it gets very cold except for two months of the year. So they cannot grow most crops out of doors, they will get frozen. There they have year round big green houses -- to supply the local supermarkets. And they have a water recycling process -- so a large percent of the water they put on the plants can be reused.

India needs to start to come up with these types of solutions -- if they are going to feed hundreds of millions of people with increased water shortages. There was also an article about a farmer in USA who is growing ten acres of food on one acre, using this process. So it looks hopeful since the regular farming process is starting to fail to produce enough for the mass of people.

This would be a good business for Krishna devotees to also develop, since there will always be a need for food and this process takes less space and less water. Of course some devotees already have growing skills with tulsi plants. And there are already a number of "devotees" in the "marijuana growing" business, so they have an idea how to grow things. They just need to adapt their skills over to regular produce. At the same time, it is a good idea if devotees can grown their own food as well, that will always be a good idea in any case. Maybe we cannot make large scale farms, but we could more readily get some of these mini-scale programs going. ys pd
