Married At 13 // Dear Prahladananda Swami 10 29 26

PADA: Yikes, pilgrims a lot of parents just surrendered to the GBC guru process and did not look at how that would affect their children. There was a lot of child abuse and of course some girls being married off when they were still children etc. Yep, the GBC is mainly to blame, but the acquiescing parents had a role in enabling all this.

Personally, I did not trust my kids to be in the GBC realm, and I sent them to public schools. I think the better results are clear, my kids are favorable to Krishna, many of their ex-kuli peers are not.

The GBC gurus were eating giant feasts while kids were being malnourished with oat meal made from "not for human consumption" horse feed. All kinds of people knew that was happening, nothing was being done. That is the fault of all adults involved. Overall it looks like almost no one dreamed that these kids would ever grow up and tell their stories in public. There was just a lack of awareness of the long range effects of all these policies. And it is all catching up, including they suspended themselves from being gurus, because they have no credibility as gurus.

If you read the comments on her video it looks like a lot of people have the perception ISKCON is not women, children, or householder friendly. And there has been a lack of protection for these vulnerable citizens. And a lot of people are cheering her on for exposing all this. I think the big problem in ISKCON is, people feel compelled to expose things in public because they leaders are not listening to the citizens, so they feel they have to take their complaints public forum. I see why that happens, and it is happening more.

Suggestions for the guru services committee to implement within this great window of opportunity for positive change in iskcon .

Dear Prahladananda Swami Maharaja,

Please accept my humble obeisances.

All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

I would like to offer a few humble suggestions regarding the review of ISKCON’s guru system.

First, I am very glad that this responsibility has come under your influence. From what I have observed, you appear willing to remain fixed in Srila Prabhupada’s instructions even when doing so may be unpopular. I appreciate this and hope the following suggestions may be of service.

1. Audit the GBC before auditing the guru system.

I believe the review needs to begin with the Direction of Management, which established a governance structure including three-year voting procedures for GBC members by temple presidents. This structure remains outstanding in its full implementation.

When the GBC audits others, who audits the GBC? Implementing Srila Prabhupada’s original governance system would establish accountability, increase devotees’ participation and strengthen the GBC’s credibility.

2. Give priority to Srila Prabhupada’s formal written directives.

I suggest examining what Srila Prabhupada explicitly authorised and communicated for ISKCON’s implementation, giving particular weight to foundational documents such as the Direction of Management and the July 9, 1977 letter. There is a difference between what he formally directed, what he discussed in conversations and what later generations concluded he would have wanted.

Notably, the Direction of Management does not establish the guru-governance system that subsequently developed. I believe these original directives deserve central consideration in any restructuring.

3. Openly establish the delegated initiation system.

I believe many present difficulties could be resolved by formally recognising a system in which qualified devotees conduct initiation on Srila Prabhupada’s behalf, without thereby becoming independent diksha-gurus.

This would also clarify the distinction between initiation and siksha relationships. Devotees could continue receiving instruction and guidance from senior Vaishnavas, while initiation follows the formally established delegated system.

Qualified Vaishnavis could also perform this service.

In my view, the GBC has gradually imposed increasing restrictions on gurus, moving towards greater central accountability without openly resolving the underlying question of authority. Rather than continuing to manage these contradictions, I suggest examining whether the delegated system can be openly and consistently implemented.

4. Implement the Direction of Management as a whole.

My concern is that individual provisions are being applied while the wider governance structure remains unimplemented. Accountability, financial transparency, voting procedures and the responsibilities of GBC members belong to the same framework.

Implementing that framework would help resolve longstanding conflicts over authority and give devotees a meaningful voice in the Society they serve.
Maharaja, I offer these suggestions respectfully, with the hope of bringing ISKCON closer to Srila Prabhupada’s documented instructions. I believe this presents an opportunity to resolve many longstanding difficulties through institutional clarity rather than further restrictions.

Thank you for your service and consideration. If I can assist you in any way with the original documents or developing these proposals, I would be very happy to serve.

Your servant,
Sundar Nitai Dasa

PADA: Oh yeah, the GBC makes all sorts of committees to monitor a wayward guru and so on, but who monitors the GBC overall? We need accountability, sounds good, but the gurus do not seem to have any. Lokanath and Giriraj and others have had scandals but, no consequences? And this pattern repeats over and over.

All of kinds of banning, beating, molesting suing and even murders have been going on, no one ever seems to be accountable for any of that? So yeah, the whole system of making artificial messiahs won't work. They need to be designated as managers and not gurus, and be held to account. Prahladananda has a reputation for covering up reports of troubles and keeping the trouble makers in power. He has no credibility.

He came to Berkeley and was shouting and yelling at me and he said "I am never going to talk to this person ever again." OK so you are not allowing us to report issues, then you claim you never knew about these issues? Sounds like you all suffer from Ivory Tower syndrome, you have no idea how the citizens are suffering under your policies.

Not talking to us means, we have to make public exposes, and we are. You do not give us any other option. But at the same time, it looks like they are leaving Prahladananda holding the bag for all the molester messiah's club's mess, you sort it all out dude! Good luck! Heh heh heh. ys pd
