Kirtanananda -- Dharamatma Review / The Guru and His Books 08 22

 Sins Against Children Never Forgiven.

Garuda Purana.

Never mind Krishna's Own Children!

Is Eternal Hell the result?

Ummm, yep, as we suspected all along!

So many "sincere, intelligent senior devotees"
who did not notice ...

There is a problem here?

While a CBS News lady immediately said:

"This is pedophile heaven."

CCH: August 1984: On or around this date in history 39 years ago, Kuladri, who was Temple president of NV at the time. Lined up a dozen or so young boys to see which Bhaktipada would choose to be his servant that night. It was after a short lecture and Bhaktipada was pointing at the children. When he stopped to pick one, that boy looked as if he was hit with a lightning bolt!

He knew all too well his fate. But all the adults yelled out, "Ki Jaya!", as if he was the luckiest boy in the world. The other children sighed in relief. I whispered to my friend, "I think he a pedophile". "Shush he replied. Keep that to yourself, they will kill you. We will get out of here in the morning." Thus this potential Cakradhara made it out of NV alive after a brief 16 hour visit. Others where not so lucky...

MD: This is abjectly incomprehensible. It's amazing what group psychology can manifest. Entire lives altered, damaged, or ruined, and acolytes cheering on the destruction. We have to always be vigilant...

Henry Doktorski III: Myself and the gurukula alumni I keep in contact with think Charles' story is fabricated. However, it could be possible, but I think not. If this was a common occurrence as Charles implies, more than he would remember it, I think.

PADA: More than a few people told me that their thought weird things were going on with the boys there -- including Sulochana, who said he was mortified his boys would be abused there.

Another example, one devotee told me that Kirtanananda had a bunch of boys jumping around in his cottage -- and the adults were ordered to keep away from that cottage. Wonder why that was?

Chakradhari also said that Kirtanananda was into boys in the early 1980s, and he challenged Kirtanananda at an Istagosthi. And that was then end of him. So yeah I believe this is correct, "keep that to yourself or else, they will kill you."

Of course, there were many other exploiters there -- who had their fingers in the cookie jar -- like Dharamatma and many similar others. It seems like the people who knew there was a problem were being suppressed, i.e. banned, beaten, and sometimes -- more violently.

Yep. In fact -- it is a club.

THE SPIRITUAL MASTER's BOOKS:

Approaching the spiritual master, Srila Prabhupada through his books.
A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada has left a number of Vedic books for his followers of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness. He instructed that we should read and study his books daily, and if we have questions, simply read again and again and the answer will be revealed from within.

The sastra indicates that we should approach a bonafide spiritual master humbly, serve him and inquire from him about the absolute truth. Recently it came to my attention that in the Gaudiya Math, ISKCON and also followers of Gour Govinda Swami there is a popular belief that one cannot become Krishna conscious by reading and studying (Srila Prabhupada) books.

"Firstly, it is not possible to understand the true essence of Srila Swami maharaja's or any Vaisnav's teachings simply by reading his books. Who will confirm that you have understood and realized the pinnacle of his Siddhant?" (Srila Bharti Goswami Maharaj).

"In conclusion, it is impossible for you to understand on your own which teachings of Srila Swami Maharaj are relative and which teachings are absolute. Therefore, if you desire to follow Srila Swami Maharaj, it will be essential for you to accept the shelter of a qualified Vaisnav who understands the true intentions and moods of Srila Swami Maharaj." (Srila Bharti Goswami Maharaj).

Srila Prabhupada himself has stated that we cannot become Krishna conscious simply by studying books, as per the Sastric teachings.

One should not proudly think that one can understand the transcendental loving service of the Lord simply by reading books. One must become a servant of a Vaiṣṇava. As Narottama dāsa Ṭhākura has confirmed, chāḍiyā vaiṣṇava-sevā nistāra pāyeche kebā: one cannot be in a transcendental position unless one very faithfully serves a pure Vaiṣṇava. One must accept a Vaiṣṇava guru (ādau gurv-āśrayam), and then by questions and answers one should gradually learn what pure devotional service to Kṛṣṇa is. That is called the paramparā system. (CC Antya lila 7.23).

So the teachings that one cannot become Krishna Conscious simply by reading Vedic books, is there in the Sastra. And anyone propagating this knowledge we can see is correct. However, there are also instances in the sastras in which the bonafide guru gives instructions and thus empowerment to his disciple to write Sastric books, which can make the reader Krishna conscious simply by reading them.

"Therefore, Nārada is trying to convince Vyāsadeva that "You preach Kṛṣṇa consciousness. Whatever you have so..., so far written books, they have been useless. Now you write something, by reading which, one will become immediately Kṛṣṇa conscious." Sadyo hṛdy avarudhyate. In the beginning of the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam it is said that "Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam is so nice that simply by reading, immediately one can capture the Supreme Lord within his heart." Sadyo hṛdy avarudhyate śuśrūṣubhis tat-kṣaṇāt. Tat-kṣaṇāt means immediately, provided if he's little willing. That's all." (Lecture New Vrindavan June 22, 1969).

So both the teachings that we cannot become Krishna Conscious by reading books, and that we can become Krishna conscious simply by reading books are there in the sastra. We must see which case is applicable in the individual situation, to be able to come to the right conclusion.

We have Narada Muni instructing Vyasadeva to write books that will make the reader Krishna conscious, and we have Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakur, instructing Srila Prabhupada to write books, propagating the teachings of the Lord Caitanya, which also includes the Srimad Bhagvatam from Vyasadeva.
Both instances the reader will benefit from the empowered bonafide representative of Krishna and become Krishna conscious simply by reading those books.

As we can see here under, Srila Prabhupada clearly stated that reading his books one can become Krishna conscious. That instruction transcends the Sastric teaching that one cannot become Krishna conscious simply by reading Vedic books.

“Thank you for reading my books and appreciating them. Please continue to do so. That will help you advance nicely in spiritual life. By reading my books and chanting Hare Krishna, your life will become perfect.” (Srila Prabhupada Letter, March 14, 1975).

Indian Man: …like your company very much in Toronto and we feel like talk you so much, but we don’t have so much time to talk with you. You have so much mercy, so we have not… know so much about Kṛṣṇa from you.
Srila Prabhupada: So, in my absence you read the books. What I talk, I have written in the books. That’s all.
Indian Man: Personally, we think more greater.
Srila Prabhupada: That’s all right. But still, you can associate with me by reading my books. (Srila Prabhupada Morning Walk, Toronto, August 7, 1975)
Reporter (2): What will happen to the movement in the United States when you die?
Prabhupāda: I will never die.
Devotees: Jaya! Hari bol! (laughter)
Prabhupāda: I shall live for my books, and you will utilize. (Press Conference July 16, 1975)

The sastra instructs that we should approach the spiritual master. Anyone reading Srila Prabhupada's books with an open mind, trying to follow the teachings and instructions therein, has approached the spiritual master submissively, is serving the spiritual master by reading and applying what he or she has reads. Whatever question they may have, they simply have to read again and again, and the question is answered from within.

The understanding of many that one cannot become Krishna conscious by reading Srila Prabhupada's books is a misunderstanding of Sastra and Srila Prabhupada's teaching. And the subsequent preaching that one must approach a living guru is a deviation of the Sastric teachings. That word living guru is not to be found in sastra, nor is it applicable to Sri Vyasadeva or Srila Prabhupada.

So there is nothing to be said new. Whatever I have to speak, I have spoken in my books. Now you try to understand it and continue your endeavor. Whether I am present or not present, it doesn't matter. As Kṛṣṇa is living eternally, similarly, living being also lives eternally. But kīrtir yasya sa jīvati: "One who has done service to the Lord lives forever." So you have been taught to serve Kṛṣṇa, and with Kṛṣṇa we'll live eternally. (Arrival address Vrindavana May 17, 1977).

I am pleased to hear that you are chanting 16 rounds daily and reading my books regularly and following the four rules. In my books the philosophy of Krishna Consciousness is explained fully so if there is anything which you do not understand, then you simply have to read again and again. By reading daily the knowledge will be revealed to you and by this process your spiritual life will develop. (Letter to Bahurupa 22 November 1974).

The real secret is... That is stated in the Vedas. Unflinching faith in God and spiritual master. Then things will be revealed from within. How much strength we have got to study all these books? But Vedas says, yasya deve parā bhaktir yathā deve tathā gurau. If one has got unflinching faith in God and similar faith in the spiritual master, tasyaite kathitā hy arthaḥ prakāśante mahātmanaḥ, to him only the Vedic knowledge becomes revealed. (Lecture November 18, 1968).

The secret to attain Krishna consciousness for the members of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness is to have unflinching faith in Krishna and Srila Prabhupada. And by reading their books, following the rules and regulations, everything will be revealed from within, that's all there is to it.

  1. JD: If Krishna does not forgive child abusers, then we should not either. I am not sure why so many devotees are so clueless on this matter. It is basic common moral sense.

Yeah, and don't forget mistreating the women, elders and disabled, which the GBC people are doing all the time. It is shameless leaders ... and the rest of the congregation bunch ... are pretty much like silly putty in the hands of the shameless leaders ... and are unable to make a stand on these things.

Whole show is going to hell? It looks that way ... unfortunately. No surprise there are so many cancer cases too. Makes perfect sense.
