[PADA: Dang monkeys! Of course Srila Prabhupada said if one is not a very advanced devotee, or one actually has illicit affairs in the holy dham, one would have to take birth as a monkey, hog or dog in the holy dham for further purification. When I was there, some of these monkeys would jump down and grab devotee's plates of prasadam and run off with it --- all within the blink of an eye.
Anyway, after this animal birth they would hopefully go back to Krishna after such purification. Srila Prabhupada also said that some of the people and animals there are descendants of the ancient demon clans that used to be in India during Krishna's time, and that is why some of them are so mean spirited and nasty.
Anyway, it seems the nasty factor has been increasing all round, what with these monkeys getting more aggressive, and the weather there has been worse including a big hail storm recently, and there is a serious pollution problem of the holy rivers, and some women report being treated badly there, and so on and so forth, and all these combined are more signs of the advance of Kali yuga.
I am not sure what a meeting of shop keepers in Loi Bazaar is going to do to fix the monkey problem, since there were monkeys there when Krishna lived there. Its not going to be easy to move them somewhere else because for starters, no one else would want them in their city either. ys pd]
