Please meet us for chanting at the 2014 Chinese New Years Parade Sunday February 2nd 2014. We are meeting at Spring and Mott Streets at 12noon. Please bring kartals and mrdungas. If you are late, follow the parade route (see link below). We are starting the Harenama marching along the parade route one hour before the official parade begins.

Why ISKCON's rank&file carefully listen what PADA keeps saying since 20 years but won't adopt?
ReplyDeleteConditioned souls are not persuaded by spoken facts but by fear! They are under GBC authority and that's how GBC rules - with intimidation, pain of penalties, hectoring, letter of excommunication.
That's why they reject even Prabhupada's capacity to initiate new devotees. Rather they accuse us of being irrational, conspiratorial and paranoid.
So this has nothing to do that they don't understand, they are controlled by fear to lose their status as ISKCON member in good standing.
This behavior pattern we see everywhere. People surrender to atheistic government out of fear. So if you come up with logic and reason they won't listen.
Thats why Lord Caitanya would not preach and simply sing and dance. In kali-yuga people in general are under atheistic form of government and constantly live in fear of losing their existence.
Same with all those gurukulis who argue they were deprived of academic education. Finally they ended up in fear of failure to make a living. Thats what is missing with new devotees, they did not get proper education to happily live like ascetic monk throughout their life - nor did ISKCON install Prabhupada's vedic village infrastructure where all devotees find shelter.
Now Bhakti Charu Swami is teaching (BCS Lecture 5|8|2013) that it was wrong that ISKCON did not properly educate all these children. In other words, Bhakti Charu Swami wants to send ISKCON children to work at karmi jobs and bring money. Earn money to pay their bills and maintain their household.
This is present ISKCON strategy, no varnasram, no vedic village life, educate yourself like a karmi and go to work at karmi jobs. So this is getting more and more a mundane religion like - Christianity - go to work and pay your church membership contribution. At one point people will ask this question, what the heck why do we need yet another religion which is after church tax?
Of course ISKCON gurus are more than happy when receiving notes and coins, hard cash to pay their plane tickets, Rolex watch, new car, etc. Question is are intelligent Westerners falling for this or is ISKCON out? Is this watered down type of spirituality survivable in the West?
