PADMAGARBHA HEALTH CRISIS / Mayapur / Niranjan / PADA vs BVKS 05 07 25

PADMAGARBHA HEALTH CRISIS

As I write this, Padmagarbha das (Peter Reinhold), Srila Prabhupada's disciple is in ER at Arbor Health—Morton Hospital in Morton, Washington State. For the last few months his health has been rapidly declining. The most severe development was his diagnosis of aortic stenosis, a heart ailment that prevents the heart valve from fully opening.

Apart from extreme weakness and heart palpitations Padma's ability to breathe properly is debilitated. He cannot take a deep breath, only very shallow breaths, and that by conscious effort. The automatic breathing by his body no longer functions properly. This has prevented him from being able to sleep for more than brief minutes at night, and that while sitting up, because if he lies down his breathing stops. I will update with more developments as I hear them.

Padmagarbha's financial situation is very tight, with only a meager income from social security. He has only Rishi Kumar, another older Prabhupada disciple who lives on their small rural project to assist him. He needs money for all the expenses that he will meet since he will, no doubt, prefer to stay at home where he worships Pancha Tattva and a pair of Srila Prabhupada's worn shoes.

Padmagarbha has a facebook page here:

PADA: Padmagarbha dasa has been a sort of sympathizer, contributor and helper for PADA over the years. He always sends me articles about all sorts of topics, from the GBC -- to the Zionist bankers -- to all kinds of things. Recently he has been sending me "Canadian Prepper" articles on the need to prepare for a major world war. That might be a good idea, all considered.

Meanwhile, it looks like he might be in trouble with his own health right now. I think he has been hanging out in some remote rural areas, not trusting the big cities as a safe location. However! Wherever we are, rural or big city, we are subject to leaving our body at any second. Our bodies are very vulnerable to even a small issue taking our current life away in a flash.

As Srila Prabhupada says, a few molecules of certain snake venom poison can kill a man instantly. Our lives here are very tenuous, shaky and fallible, and we just fail to realize that most of the time. Having said all that, we wish Padmagarbha well. Although I am not a big fan of getting Zionist banker news, I will miss it if he departs.

It is so sad that so many devotees have no devotee "end of life care" situations, and they have to rely on the mundane society for their end care. Only the elite gurus get in house personal care. Very sad. So let us hope for the best for Padmagarbha das. He is a Prabhupada man and he will be blessed for that in any case. I pray that Krishna helps him out whatever happens next. ys pd

Mayapur Update:

Madhava Gauranga and Sri Radhe are back in Mayapur. Naturally this is causing distress to those they harmed. It appears to have been facilitated by the sham Child Protection Office in India whose primary raison d'etre appears to have nothing to do with keeping children safe but everything to do with having no accountability to any international child protection efforts and to afford immunity to those that they favour there in India.

On a separate or perhaps related note, regarding recent conversations about HH Priti Vardhana Maharaja.... It seems that much of the pushback arising from recent posts focused on the supposed misinformation about whether or not he intended to open a gurukula in South America.

The bigger concern is that, despite having been at the helm of the Mayapur Gurukula during periods of prolific abuse - and being fully aware of the abuse yet choosing not to prevent or report - he appears to have evaded any consequences. He may not have personally abused any children but failing to keep children entrusted to his care safe from abuse also constitutes serious culpability.

In the report commissioned by the GBC to look into the epidemic of abuse at the Mayapur and Vrindavan gurukulas, Navin Krishna Prabhu (who headed the inquiry) outlines the following....

A former student of the Mayapur Gurukula wrote a letter to Priti Vardhana Swami, Madhava Gauranga and others in Apr 2022 detailing the culture of abuse - including rape - at the Gurukula. The recipients elected not to report this to the CPO/CPT. Nor did they even raise it during Navin Krishna's inquiry.

"Enquiry Committee notes: When we enquired Priti Vardhana Swami, his response was that he did not think that the Ex-Gurukuli wanted it to be reported....."

(While this is true.... the author of the letter did not want it to be made public.... he did want action taken and none was taken. And this includes the mandatory reporting obligations that those caring for children have. We will also respect the author's wishes and not publish it here. But will offer a summary:

The author addresses the school management talking about mixed feelings about his gurukula experience. On the one hand, some fond memories. On the other hand, shock at the levels of abuse and the fact that nothing is being done about them. The letter went into some detail about specific transgressions perpetrated by and towards specific individuals.

He worries what will become of the children as they grow and the effects of the trauma manifest and cannot understand why the school hasn't provided professional support to victims. He concludes by asking what the school management intend to do about it. It is readily appreciable is that the author was beseeching the school's leadership to take action to eradicate the abuse. And it seems evident that they did nothing. They didn't report it. They didn't arrange for any counselling. They took no steps to prevent further abuse.)

The report continues

"Madhava Gauranga Das (then the Dean of the Gurukula) said he did not report the letter officially but that he spoke to Subheksana Das, who was the co-director for the Gurukula......"

(And then there's a couple of paragraphs detailing how various people in the management of the school all thought someone else should report it. But no one did. Even when Navin Krishna interviewed Priti Vardhana Swami - twice - during the inquiry, no mention was made by him about this letter. And this was true of others that were interviewed too. Eventually it seems that, as one of them resigned - 18 months after the letter had been written - they finally made the letter public - perhaps vexatiously as they walked out of the door.

What is evident from the above is that numerous people were aware of the letter and it was circulated amongst them but never submitted to the CPO or even to an inquiry specifically looking into the culture of abuse at the gurukula there.

So essentially, they all simply sat on the information and did not make the requisite efforts to see that the culture of abuse would be stopped. They neglected their responsibilities to properly safeguard the children entrusted to their care.)

Other concerns laid out in the inquiry report:

o "Lack of protection of children:

o Poor transparency

o Poor cooperation with the CPO. Abuses not reported in the boy’s school and
as it’s known many abuses that took place in the girl’s school also went unreported

* Poor academics:

o Some students were not able to read basic English even after reaching grade seven

o Academics were discouraged

o No stable and established curriculum - changing and experimenting

o Insufficient tertiary education. Some students remained at the Gurukula for the last few years for the sake of graduation but not learning anything significant

* Too much emphasis on subjects that may not suit everyone. For example: Sanskrit was taught daily but hardly anyone learnt more than the basic

* There was a fine line between teaching austerity and neglecting the children when the ashram was operating. Most children had to rise at 2 am and sometimes a teacher would use a bucket of cold water to wake them up. When a student complained to Priti Vardhana Swami about it, his reply was: “It is your duty to get up”.

* A separatist, sectarian culture. This elitist attitude did percolate to the boys. Some more, some less. But overall, there was a superiority complex in the school ethos.

* The Gurukula mostly operated independently of ISKCON - Financially and otherwise.

Taking fees in cash, Operating through different Trusts, Non accountability of the spendings being a few of the anomalies.

* Distancing children from their parents

o Children's contact with their parents was restricted. Parents influence on their children was not appreciated. For many years, children were allowed to see their parents for 45 minutes a week strictly. (a bell would ring and they would have to leave them immediately)

o Parents’ inputs to their children’s education were ignored (they were literally told: “Our way or the High way”)"

As of the time of writing, apart from some institutional restrictions, Anirdesya Vapu remains at large despite his decades of crimes against children. Nor have any of his enablers faced any meaningful consequences.

Without question, Anirdesya Vapu's abuse is rightly scorned. But it's not like he acted in a vacuum. It seems that he managed to mentor an entire managerial cohort in his deranged and unsafe ideas and practices. And no one has really been held accountable.

NIRAJANA SWAMI - WHAT'S HAPPENING?!

Alarming news is coming from Vrindavan. According to several devotees who know the situation closely, the Maharaja has been completely isolated for several weeks. No darsans. Disciples cannot contact him. All meetings are cancelled.

Those who were able to be nearby say:

"He does not come out. He does not want to talk to anyone. The condition is as if he has withdrawn internally. Very difficult."

He is now with Bhakti Vijnana.

No one has officially confirmed anything. But more and more voices are talking about a possible mental disorder. Please take this seriously. If anyone has confirmed information, please write.

PADA: First of all, worship of a pure devotee is recommended everywhere in shastra. Second, if people are not going to worship a pure devotee, who are they going to worship? You failed to explain what is the better process than worship of a pure devotee?

As for your photo of Bhakti Vikas swami, he worked against me in 1979 when i said we cannot worship intoxicated people who are having affairs with disciples like Jayatirtha. He sided with Jayapataka to keep Jayatirtha. The people who worship intoxicated people who are having affairs go to the lower regions, and take birth in lower species, and so do their enablers, which is what shastra says.
